Anderson Cooper On Women: ‘I Was Hoping To Meet Their Brothers!’

Anderson Cooper opened up about dating women on a recent segment of Anderson Live, joking about his pre-teen years when he “dated” other young people.

While the matter was speculated upon for years (and the CNN anchor had been spotted out and about with boyfriend Ben Maisani, owner of a prominent East Village gay bar), Anderson Cooper did not actually come out as gay publicly until very recently in a letter to media friend Andrew Sullivan.

Cooper maintained he was a proud gay man, but had never discussed the details as he felt his role as a journalist was to not distract from the stories on which he was reported. But now Anderson is open about his sexual orientation, allowing us to glimpse exchanges as adorable as the one below.

In it, Cooper gives a shout out to a certain sect of females known to pal around with gay men and jokes to another man about having more experience with women than the guy — off camera — ribs him for lack of lady knowledge. The guy off camera says:

“How do you know anything about what women are doing?”

Anderson quips back:

“Because, unlike you, sweetie, I have had a little bit more experience in other areas other than with guys.”

The silver fox adds:

“Some of my best friends now are girls who allegedly dated me at 13 and 14, and who I didn’t really know we were dating, but they thought we were dating, and I was sort of, you know, hoping to meet their brothers.”

Below, watch Anderson Cooper discussing his knowledge of the fairer sex:
