Taylor Swift Has Twitter Aflutter Over ‘Baby’s Fly’ Lyric In ‘Call It What You Want’?

Fans aren’t surprised that Taylor Swift’s latest single “Call It What You Want” appears to be about a relationship, as many of her hits throughout her young life have been penned around her feelings for the men she’s dated. While she never names the men in her life in a tune, Taylor offers enough bread crumbs to get you to the destination of who she’s talking about in her songs. “Call It What You Want” is a bit different, it is like an ode to love for a guy in her song, a song that now has Twitter all aflutter over the line, “baby’s fly like a jet stream.”

“Call It What You Want” is Swift’s fourth single off her Reputation album, which is due out November 10. It appears to be a rather revealing song about Swift’s reasons for going off the celebrity grid for a good portion of 2016, suggests People Magazine. Already folks online are whispering “grammy” for “Call It What You Want,” which was released late Thursday. According to Elite Daily, the song is a tear-jerker and they suggest that the lyrics will leave you “sobbing.”

It is widely speculated that Swift, 27, has documented her relationship with British Actor Joe Alwyn in two previous songs, “Ready For It” and “Gorgeous.” Her latest, “Call It What You Want,” just may be the song most revealing of her relationship with Alwyn to date, suggests People.

The lyric “My baby’s fly like a jet stream” has folks talking on Twitter. That line is also seen in many of the headlines this morning on the numerous articles describing Taylor Swift’s latest release, “Call It What You Want.” Some of what Twitter is saying is seen below in tweets.

What does “My baby’s fly like a jet stream” mean? Many folks are taking a tip from the title of the song “Call It What You Want,” and they are calling it a lot of different things today. The majority of the social media posts suggest that her fans love this song, although a few found it not to their liking. One Twitter user wrote, ” my baby’s fly like a jet stream” is so ‘cringey’ [SIC] like how the f**k is 27-year-old Taylor Swift not embarrassed to release this s**t?”

Does “fly” mean a zipper on a pair of pants in this lyric? Is that why the Twitter user cringes over the lyric? The sentence seems to have “fly” set up as a noun or a thing, not a verb or an action. As of right now, only Taylor Swift knows what she meant with that lyric, but as time goes on, someone will probably ask her to decipher “Call It What You Want” during an interview and “my baby’s fly like a jet stream” might just come up for clarification.

Elle pulled the different lyrics out of the song and gave their thoughts on what Swift was referencing in “Call It What You Want.” While they hit on many of the lyrics, they didn’t touch “my baby’s fly like the jet stream” line.

Elle also interprets this song as having lyrics that take a jab at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West with certain references made in the lyrics, along with her “Calvin Harris/Hiddleswift blowouts.” They also suggest the lyrics “at first glance” do “seem to say quite a bit about her current boyfriend Alwyn.” In other words, Taylor Swift has an awful lot to say in “Call It What You Want.”
