Police: Woman Murders Two Children In Bascom Home Before Taking Her Own Life

A woman and her two children were found dead in their home from a suspected murder-suicide, according to WJHG. On Friday, October 6, Jackson County Police officials received a call about a shooting on Robinson Road in Bascom, Florida, near Alabama-Florida state line.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 25-year-old Esebeibi Sanchez and her two children, Ronaldinho Ramirez-Sanchez, 7, and 5-year-old Gustavo-Angel Ramirez Sanchez with gunshot wounds.

Sanchez and one of her children were pronounced dead at the scene, while the other child was airlifted to a hospital in Tallahassee, where he was listed in critical condition. However, the child succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

Police say that when the father of the two children, whose identity has not been revealed, returned home from work, he discovered that Sanchez and the children had been shot.

A preliminary investigation determined that Sanchez shot her two small children before turning the gun on herself in her Bascom home. Officials say a motive for the murder-suicide remains unclear.

The bodies were transported to the local medical examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, the Panama City News Herald reports.

Deputy Superintendent Cheryl McDaniel stated that the murder-suicide left the small community of Bascom in shock as everyone believed that Sanchez was a good mother. She went on to say that “there were no signs something like this could happen. The children were always well tended to, and they were happy children.”

JCSO Capt. Scott Edwards Susan said Sanchez was abused as a teen. He suspects that ordeal may have played a role in the shooting.

Edwards advises anyone who may be in need of help to seek it in lieu of turning to violence and taking it out on innocent children. He stresses that there is a slew of support groups in the community that help those suffering from mental illness or depression.

If anyone would like to make a donation to help with the funeral expenses for Sanchez and her two children, who were students at Malone School, you may do so at any Peoples South Bank branch.

An investigation into the suspected Bascom murder-suicide is underway.
