New iPad Rumors: Thinner, Lighter, Set For March Release

There are a couple new iPad rumors floating around, but you’ve probably heard them before. The new iPad will be thinner, lighter, and faster.

According to CNET, Apple is looking at a March release for the fifth generation iPad.

If the new iPad rumors are true, the fifth generation iPad will be released just five months after the latest version of the device. The fourth generation iPad, which included retina display, was released 8 months after the third generation iPad.

In addition to a release date, Macotakara claims to have the dimensions for the new device. Macotakara claims that the new iPad will include the retina display but not the added weight.

According to IBN Live, the latest iPad was slightly heavier and thicker than the iPad 2 due to the retina display. Apple is working to slim down the “iPad 5” without sacrificing the display.

In addition to the new iPad, Apple is also reportedly planning a version of the iPad Mini with Retina Display. Many people saw the iPad Mini as a small step back for Apple since it did not include the same crisp display as the larger iPad.

The iPad Mini will reportedly have a 7.9-inch Retina Display and will be powered by the same A6X processor that powers the Apple iPad 4.
