Johnny Depp And Aerosmith Jam On Stage In L.A.

Johnny Depp joined Aerosmith on stage in California on Monday night, with the actor jamming alongside the band for two songs before departing.

As fans of the aging rockers will already know, this is not the first time Johnny Depp and Aerosmith have appeared on stage together. Back in August, the 49-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star also joined the band during their Hollywood Bowl gig in August. The actor and the rock group are good buddies and have previously been spotted partying together.

On Monday night at the Staples Center in L.A., Depp grabbed his Gibson again to help play “Stop Messin’ Around” and “Come Together,” with witnesses reporting to Ultimate Classic Rock that Depp was “really happy and at ease” during the appearance.

And fun fact: Johnny Depp’s Aerosmith involvement goes further than live performances. The star of Edward Scissorhands can be heard singing backing vocals on “Freedom Fighter” from Aerosmith’s Music From Another Dimension! album.

As E! Online notes, Depp has appeared with other musicians before now. He popped up on stage to play with Alice Cooper during a live show only a few days back and indulged in a little jamming at the Tom Petty tribute festival in Los Angeles last month.

Is all this the sign of a frustrated wannabe rocker? Well, perhaps. While it’s difficult to question Depp’s acting chops and massive box office appeal, the actor never did quite make it big in music. He began playing in garage bands after receiving a guitar for his 12th birthday, and he played with a host of local bands while growing up in Florida, but it was acting that proved his true calling.

What do you make of the Johnny Depp and Aerosmith collaboration? Would you pay to see a whole set?
