Jim Carrey’s Insane New Beard Is Turning Heads Everywhere
Over the past two years, Jim Carrey has taken a break from Hollywood and managed to stay out of the spotlight and public eye. That is — until very recently.
The usually clean-shaven comedian made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week. But it wasn’t just his charming personality that had people talking — it was his appearance. Carrey was sporting a brand new beard that looked pretty similar to jolly old Saint Nicholas.
Jim admitted to Kimmel that his new, bushy beard has been getting a lot of attention over the past few weeks — and rightfully so!
“The beard, yes, everywhere I go people talk about the beard. It’s a bigger star than me at this point. It has its own Twitter.”
When asked why he decided to ditch his clean-shaven face and opt for a massive beard instead, Carrey gave Kimmel a witty response, in true Jim Carrey fashion.
“The question is not, ‘Why are you growing a beard? The question is, ‘Why am I growing a beard and still shaving my balls?'”
According to Twitter, Jim first gave the world a look at his insane new beard when he posted a selfie on April 15 — one day before Easter.

Twitter went crazy with comments about Carrey’s new look and some fans even admitted that they didn’t recognize the funny man.
“I LEGIT THOUGHT IT WAS ROBIN WILLIAMS FOR 10 WHOLE SECONDS.”
Other users thought Jim was pulling a fast one on them and had doctored the photo.
“I went on google and searched Jim Carrey 2017 I legitimately didn’t believe he had a beard hahahaha.”
But perhaps the most heartfelt comment came from one Twitter user who wasn’t as concerned with Carrey’s new facial hair as he was with the fact that Carrey is aging as any normal human would.
“Nooooo. Don’t age!! Don’t do this to us! Stay young!!!!”
Jim has had a rough few years, which likely prompted him to take a break from Hollywood. In September of 2015, Jim’s ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, committed suicide. The cause of death was later ruled an overdose.
At White’s funeral, Jim served as a pallbearer, having split with Cathriona just weeks before her death.
According to E! News, Cathriona left a suicide note for her former flame.
“I’m just not for this world. I’ve spent 3 days now in disbelief that you’re not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back. I could, I just don’t have the will this time. I’m sorry you felt I wasn’t there for you. I tried to give you my best part.”
The letter later went on to describe her wishes.
“I don’t really know about burial or that sort of thing. You are my family so whatever you choose will be fine. Please forgive me. I’m just not for this world.”
In turn, Jim released a statement to the press, describing his sorrow over Cathriona’s death.
“I am shocked and saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona. She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt.”
Since completing Dumb and Dumber To in 2014, Jim has taken a break from acting but not from film as a whole. On his latest project, I’m Dying Up Here, Carrey serves as executive producer for the show, which centers around the L.A. stand-up comedy scene in the ’70s.
