WWF Launches T-Shirt Design Contest To Aid Habitat Conservation Efforts

The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) is searching the planet for the best t-shirt design. The animal conservation group has teamed up with Threadless to offer the design challenge. Threadless is a global community of emerging designers that come together to create art. Budding artists can enter their designs until December 19.

WWF t-shirt design entries must focus on the 2012 conservation theme – protecting our planet’s habitats and species. Registration is required, but it is a free and decidedly quick process. Participants do not need to be professional designers or even fashion students. Anyone with a creative idea which corresponds with the wildlife preservation theme is encouraged to submit a t-shirt design.

WWF International Director of Communications Oscar Soria had this to say in a statement about the contest:

“We’re really excited about working with the Threadless community and can’t wait to see some of the entries. It’s amazing to think that the winner will see their t-shirt design worn all over the world. What a fantastic way of celebrating the natural world and the big and little things all of us can do to help look after it.”

The design of the t-shirt should focus on the celebration of the natural world and inspire folks to embark on positive action to help Mother Earth. A total of 25 percent of the sale from the winning WWF shirt design will go towards the group’s important efforts to help vulnerable wildlife, habitats and communities around the world.

Prizes include $1,000 in cash, $250 Threadless voucher, a Canon EOS 7D digital SLR camera and lens, and a huge and cuddly panda toy. Threadless will produce the t-shirt on sustainably-resourced material and list it for sale in March 2013.
