Randy Travis Is On The Wagon, Vows To Stay Clean And Sober

Randy Travis has decided to steer his life back on the straight and narrow and leave his alcoholic ways behind. The country music star released a statement noting that he is going to say good-bye to his boozing days. During 2012, the 53-year-old singer was involved in three alcohol-related arrests.

Attorney Larry Friedman told TMZ that Randy Travis’ “dark days” are behind him now. Friedman had this to say about the singer’s new outlook on life:

“He eliminated alcohol from his daily life. Randy works out three hours every day and is in the best shape of his life. He has a high protein diet and takes a lot of vitamins.”

The singer is reportedly spending a lot of time inside of a Texas studio working on a new album. Travis was arrested in Dallas in February after getting caught with an open bottle of wine outside of a Baptist Church, ACE ShowBiz reports. Travis said he was sorry about the incident that came on the heels of a Super Bowl celebration.

The award-winning country music singer was found totally nude after wrecking his car in August. Randy Travis reportedly refused to take a breathalyzer test and was placed in the back of a police cruiser and transported to the local station. He was cited for retaliation and obstruction following the naked driving incident.

A few weeks after what must have been an embarrassing situation for the country star, he was cited for simple assault after an incident outside the Prestonwood Baptist Church. Plano Police spokesman David Tilley had this to say after Travis’ third alcohol-related arrest:

“During our investigation we determined Mr. Travis at some point physically assaulted an individual who was there.”
