Trump Supporters: President-Elect Called His Fans ‘Violent’ And ‘Vicious’ During Campaign

Trump supporters were present and listening intently to their president-elect speak last Friday in one of his “Thank you” rallies, but the message that Donald Trump was saying didn’t seem to put the crowd in a good light.

Trump supporters, at least some of them, were ardent admirers of the president-elect throughout his presidential campaign and their admiration for their choice as the newest commander-in-chief often bordered on fanaticism, which sometimes led to aggressive displays of their love for the real estate mogul.

Earlier in March, one of Trump’s supporters sucker punched a black man in a rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The black man was being escorted from the premises because he was protesting against Trump and as he neared the exit an elderly white man punched him in the face.

Authorities were able to detain the white man and charged him with assault, but it didn’t do much to curb the aggressiveness of Trump supporters.

Months later, Trump supporters started chanting “Lock her up!” indicating that they wanted Donald Trump to imprison Hillary Clinton once he is sworn into office.

The idea came first from Trump himself when he said at a rally earlier this year in June that he wants Clinton to face prison time for her use of a private email server when she was still secretary of state.

Trump repeated his threat during the second presidential debate when he faced Clinton and told her that he will get a special prosecutor to look into her case and have her jailed if she was indeed committing an act of felony during her time as the secretary of state.

Trump supporters lauded him even more for his unrelenting behavior to do what seems to be right for his fans, but ever since the president-elect won the position he was gunning for, Donald Trump seems to be backing off from his promises little by little.

Also, to the detriment of Trump supporters, the president-elect is admitting that all of the things he said during his campaign were just for show.

Smoke and mirrors

On Friday, during one of Trump’s “Thank you” tours, the real estate mogul and president-elect told thousands of his supporters something that they probably weren’t expecting.

Donald Trump called his supporters “violent” and “vicious” and he clearly indicated that they were quite rabid when it came to getting what they want.

Trump supporters flocked to their president-elect’s rally in Florida only to hear him say that they were quite aggressive during his presidential campaign.

According to CNN, he said the following about his followers.

“You people were vicious, violent, screaming, ‘Where’s the wall? We want the wall!’ Screaming, ‘Prison! Prison! Lock her up!’ I mean you are going crazy. I mean, you were nasty and mean and vicious and you wanted to win, right?”

But the president-elect added that Trump supporters are no longer that raucous crowd because now that they have won the election, there’s no need for that kind of behavior anymore.

Despite Trump’s statement that his supporters are much more placid after winning the election, there were still acts of violence during his Florida rally after the president-elect accused the media of being “very dishonest” during the exit polls on Election Day.

One of Trump’s supporters accosted a reporter during the rally throwing an empty water bottle at the journalist and shouting “trash.”

Also, despite Trump’s insistence that he will no longer seek to imprison Hillary Clinton once he’s sworn into office, many Trump supporters during the Florida rally still clamored for the former secretary of state to face jail time.

One Trump supporter even said that Clinton should be water-boarded for her alleged crimes.

Many Trump supporters may still demand that their president-elect give them what he promised to deliver during his campaign, but seeing that Donald Trump is slowly backtracking from his promises there’s no saying how these supporters will react.

It may be possible that the president-elect will find himself at the mercy of his “violent” and “vicious” Trump supporters.
