WWE Rumors: John Cena Upset With WWE Return Date, WWE Returns of Goldberg and The Undertaker Could Be Involved

John Cena has not been seen on SmackDown or WWE television because he is currently filming the second season of “American Grit.” The last time he was on WWE programming was at WWE No Mercy back in October. Since then, a lot has changed. Goldberg has returned to WWE and defeated Brock Lesnar in what could be the most shocking moment of the year, and The Undertaker has returned to SmackDown as well.

WWE Survivor Series has come and gone, so WWE is starting to look at 2017 and preparing for the WWE Royal Rumble, which is expected to be one of the biggest PPVs in WWE history. There is no question that WWE officials want John Cena to be a part of that event. In fact, Baron Corbin is a rumored opponent for Cena at the PPV. However, there are some conflicting reports about when John Cena will return to WWE.

It’s been reported that Cena would return during a WWE live event on December 26 in Madison Square Garden. He was set to be in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship against Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles, who should still be holding the title. Shortly after, Cena would return to WWE TV in early January, but there is a new report that is claiming something very concerning about John Cena’s status with WWE.

According to a new report, there is a belief that John Cena could be at odds with WWE officials right now due in part to the WWE returns of Bill Goldberg and The Undertaker in his absence. It’s being said that The Undertaker’s early return to WWE television and increased schedule over the next few months was a result of Cena’s return date possibly being pushed back due to something happening between Cena and WWE.

John Cena’s return to WWE television may have been pushed back due to outside commitments interfering with his return date, which would make sense because WWE officials are going to want Cena back for the WWE Royal Rumble. The speculation is that The Undertaker was booked for more dates and multiple PPVs as a reaction to Cena missing more time than WWE was prepared for beforehand.

As of this writing, John Cena vs. The Undertaker is still a strong possibility for Wrestlemania 33. However, it has also been rumored that Randy Orton could also fill that role if WWE officials change their plans for The Undertaker on the grandest stage of them all. John Cena could also win his sixteenth WWE World title at Wrestlemania next year, so there are other options for him if WWE goes in another direction.

It’s also coming to light that Goldberg’s WWE return and the feud with Brock Lesnar could be another cause of tension between John Cena and WWE, especially if the two parties are already having some issues with the former’s return date. The report above is also claiming that Cena isn’t upset that Goldberg is back in a WWE ring, but the way he found out about his return to WWE programming got under Cena’s skin.

Apparently, John Cena likes being in the know when it comes to WWE’s plans since he has been a company guy since he walked into WWE. However, it’s being said that Cena disagrees with WWE about bringing back Goldberg for a feud with Brock Lesnar when that takes a spot away from a lot of young talent in the WWE locker room and doesn’t give anyone else the rub from working a big match with Goldberg or Lesnar.

There has been conflicting information about John Cena’s return to WWE for the past several weeks, so this is to be taken with a grain of salt. The most important thing to take away from this is that Cena may return in December for the Madison Square Garden show, but his return to WWE television could be held off a little later than originally believed. John Cena may wait to return for the WWE Royal Rumble match.
