Simmons told the women on The Real that she had a secret weapon for her weight loss success after welcoming her son Sutton Joseph into the world just seven weeks ago, reported Essence.
“You know, it goes without saying. Every day when you walked out here and when we saw you in the back…how do you look so amazing?” questioned co-host Adrienne Bailon. “So did you lose the baby weight so fast?”
Angela, 29, credits working out during her pregnancy for helping her to succeed with her post-pregnancy weight loss. However, she checked with her doctor before beginning her workout regime.
“I worked out my whole pregnancy so that really helped,” shared Simmons. “As soon as my doctor gave me the clearance in like two weeks to do it, I’m like okay I’m going to work out. So, I started my yoga.”
Admitting that her family and friends were concerned that she worked out during her pregnancy even though the doctor approved it, Angela also shared that she intends to continue her weight loss.
“They were so nervous when I was going to the gym. They were like ‘why are you doing that? You’re going to kill the baby,'” Simmons recalled of the response to her exercising during her pregnancy.
“I’m still working on it. I’m like a perfection freak. I’m working on it.”
In addition, Angela dished about losing her virginity and how her plan to stay abstinent until she was married changed.

Essence noted that “everyone was left feeling a little perplexed when Angela Simmons announced she was pregnant with her first child” because she had discussed “preserving her virginity and practicing abstinence” until she tied the knot. Angela initially denied that she was pregnant, and then ultimately shared that she and her fiancé Sutton Tennyson were having a baby together.
Now that their baby boy has arrived, Simmons clarified the situation on The Real. She explained that she had planned to wait until she had sex, but when she met the perfect man, that plan changed.
As for what it was like to tell her father about her pregnancy, Simmons shared that he was understanding, reported Madame Noire.
One of the co-hosts on The Real, Adrienne Bailon, questioned Angela about how Rev. Run reacted.
“He was just calm,” recalled Simmons. He was like, ‘Okay. I’m this guy. My arms are open to you. I’m not going to be mad.'”
Angela admitted that she had been “scared” and crying because she felt that she “let him down,” which is the “last thing” that she wants to do when it comes to her father and family. Consequently, his compassionate response was especially meaningful, she added.
“It meant a lot that [my father] was open arms and like, there for me.”
As for her diet, Simmons was influenced by another member of her family, her uncle Russell Simmons.

A few years ago, she even posed nude for Peta’s campaign, “Eating Meat Is A Sin,” to publicize a vegetarian diet, reported Vibe.
Angela revealed how Russell affected her diet, and admitted it initially wasn’t easy.
“I eat pretty well, I’m a vegetarian,” she shared. “My uncle inspired me to become a vegetarian, a vegan, when I was young. He had me watch this video, I can’t remember the name of it, but I was only about 12 or 13 and he gave it to our family.”
Angela was the only one who watched the video, but had problems getting started because she was “in a family that ate so much meat.” However, when Simmons did make the change to a vegetarian diet, she felt “pretty proud,” she commented.
Angela has shared her meals on Instagram with fans, captioning one recent meal as “vegetarian lifestyle.”
