‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results Week 9: Who Went Home Tonight, Which Couples Are Headed To The Semi-Finals?

Who went home on Dancing with the Stars on Monday night and which couples will be headed to next week’s semi-finals? There’s just one week to go before the Season 23 semi-finals, so the competition in the ABC ballroom was at an all-time high.

One couple was eliminated on Week 9, but not before all six couples performed two rounds of dancing to Broadway show tunes on “Showstoppers Night.” In addition to some spectacular dance routines, fans were treated to a special performance by Idina Menzel, who also served as guest judge former pro-dancer.

Who topped the leaderboard on “Showstoppers Night,” which couples were told they were in jeopardy, and who went home at the end of the two-hour show? Here’s a recap of what happened on Monday night.

Warning: Dancing With the Stars Season 23 Week 9 elimination results ahead!

According to ABC, Monday night’s elimination was based on a combination of last week’s judges’ scores and fans’ votes. So, even if a couple did their best dance of the season on “Showstoppers Night,” there was a chance they could be in jeopardy on Monday night.

Before host Tom Bergeron announced the names of the couples who were in jeopardy, all six couples performed one round of dancing followed by a Team-Up Challenge.

The couples were paired off, but during a portion of the dance, they had to perform without their professional partners. Judges scores from both routines were combined for their final Week 9 total.

Week 9 Couples Dances – Scores

Derek and Marilu kicked off the night with a Samba and made a great comeback after placing at the bottom of the leaderboard last week. And what a comeback it was — they received a score of 36 (9-9-9-9). John Kubicek from Buddy TV predicted that they would be leaving tonight, but did fans’ votes from last week save them tonight?

Calvin and Lindsay knocked it out of the park once again this week with a Waltz to “Memory” from CATS. Julianne said it was their “best dance of the season,” one that earned them a score of 37 (9-9-10-9)

James and Sharna were up next, but once again Jenna Johnson filled in for Sharna who is still recuperating from a knee injury. It doesn’t seem to matter who James dances with because he continues to get positive feedback from the judges.

Their Jazz routine to “A Brand New Day” from The Wiz got high marks, although Bruno noted that James missed the mark early-on in the performance. Score — 36 (9-9-9-9)

Terra and Sasha’s Charleston was so fun to watch and the judges thought so, too. Carrie Ann said that Terra outperformed “everyone” in the competition and their score reflected the hard work they put into the performance — 38 (10-10-9-9)

Jana and Gleb performed a Waltz to “She Used to Be Mine” and despite a knee injury, Gleb made it to the dance floor tonight. Julianne thought their routine showed that they danced “from the heart” and Bruno said Jana’s dancing was like “dream.” Jana and Gleb earned the first perfect score of the night — 40 (10-10-10-10)

Laurie and Val were the last to dance during the first round of dancing on Monday night. Their Argentine Tango to “Cell Block Tango” from Chicago and Laurie, 16, was nervous about the sexiness of the routine, but she did a fabulous job.

Bruno said she was “guilty” of “killing that Tango,” and Julianne said she was “speechless.” They received the second perfect score of the night — 40 (10-10-10-10)

Here’s how the three teams scored on Monday night.

James and Sharna (Jenna) with Calvin and Lindsay (Paso Doble) — 37 (9-9-10-9)

Jana and Gleb with Laurie and Val (Contemporary) — 40 (10-10-10-10)

Marilu and Derek with Terra and Sasha (Jazz) — 36 (9-9-9-9)

Who Went Home on Week 9?

Right before the end of Monday night’s show host Tom Bergeron revealed who would be going home. Eliminated tonight with the lowest scores and fans’ votes from last week’s Halloween Night show were Marilu and Derek.

Dancing in the semi-finals next week are Laurie and Val, Terra and Sasha, James and Sharna, Calvin and Lindsay, Jana and Gleb.
