It looks like American Horror Story-favorite Taissa Farmiga finally made her debut in Roanoke. But did you miss it? And what does her appearance mean in regard to the twist expected in the Season 6 finale?
Spoiler alert: This article discusses FX’s American Horror Story: Roanoke. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.
For eagle-eyed fans, Taissa Farmiga just might have made an appearance in the trailer for Episode 9 of American Horror Story: Roanoke.
You can view the full trailer for Chapter 8 of American Horror Story: Roanoke below.
It seems Episode 9 will not only deal with the remaining victims in the house — Lee (Adina Porter) and Audrey (Sarah Paulson) — but with how the footage will be discovered. And that is where Taissa Farmiga’s potential character makes an appearance.
The trailer for Chapter 9 of American Horror Story: Roanoke shows three new characters that appear to be exploring the Roanoke countryside. At first they look like they could be hikers. However, the girl in the top right of the image below is shown holding what could be a golf club. This indicates they are aware of the dangers lurking in the area. Although, as MTV points out, it could also be a selfie stick she is holding, indicating they have no idea of the horrors they are about to uncover in Episode 9 of American Horror Story.
It is this character fans have been speculating is Taissa Farmiga. After all, that long hair looks about right, and the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, has previously revealed to E! Online that both Taissa Farmiga and Finn Wittrock will return to American Horror Story this season.
Considering the main character in the image appears to have a camera strapped to his helmet, could these three new characters be yet another nod to the movie, The Blair Witch Project? The potential is that Tarissa Farmiga and the other new characters have ventured out to the house in Roanoke made famous in American Horror Story‘s fictional documentary, My Roanoke Nightmare. The question is, did viewers know there was going to be the follow up program, Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell? If so, perhaps these new characters are looking for the reason why this program never aired? Alternatively, if no one knew there would be a new series based on Roanoke, could these three merely be searching out the house after watching My Roanoke Nightmare?
Either way, it appears that they discover more than they bargained for and, in the trailer, one of the characters is warning the Blood Moon is, once again, almost upon them. So, could Tarissa Farmiga and the other new characters wind up in the Roanoke house for the Blood Moon in the Season 6 finale of American Horror Story?
Another theory is that that woman seen in the Episode 9 promo was not actually Taissa Farmiga, but that she will return as either the real Prescilla or Scathach, both of which have not really been seen other than in the original documentary being played by actors. Scathach was seen briefly in Episode 7 of American Horror Story, however, it was very hard to see just who it was. As MTV pointed out after that episode aired, many fans nearly didn’t see Finn Wittrock’s appearance in that episode of AHS. Perhaps Taissa Farmiga has appeared as well.
Although, to be honest, the character seen in the still for Episode 9 also looks like it could be Finn Wittrock. Perhaps all that talk of the Polk boy wanting to be on television in Episode 8 of AHS really meant something and this is a cleaned up Polk looking for his chance to appear on television?
Also, considering only one person is supposed to survive Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell, does this include these three new characters? Could Taissa Farmiga appear right at the end of American Horror Story: Roanoke and steal the survivor crown? Although, considering only one of these characters is issuing the warning about the Blood Moon, does that mean viewers will only get to see Taissa Farmiga for a short time? Only by tuning into Episode 9 of AHS: Roanoke will reveal all.
