Outrageous Political Ads [Video]

Political ads seem to be getting crazier as we approach the November 6th Presidential elections. A lot of this is due to the advent of the Super PAC, which are organizations that are technically independent of the political campaigns they are openly supporting.

This allows Super PACs to produce outrageous political ads and if the message is found to be considered too much for voters the political candidate will simply disavow that message. After all, they did not say it directly themselves…

PBS and Sesame Street recently lambasted the Obama campaign for trying to use Big Bird as a political prop. Billionaire Joe Ricketts produced a “black, metrosexual Abe Lincoln” ad which was thankfully killed quickly.

Political candidates often seem to screw up royally when attempting to get across a message. The worst seems to come out when slandering their opponents. Earlier in the year a group supporting Ron Paul released an ad insinuating that Jon Huntsman is a Chinese “Manchurian Candidate”.

While these ads are hard to take seriously, it is fun to watch big bird as an evil corporate genius, Dale Peterson complaining about his stolen signs and goofing off on facebook, Steve Martin rolling a piece of paper, Samuel L Jackson swearing for Obama, Christine O’Donell denouncing witchcraft, an epic battle between an ox and a rat, and strange fake sheep with glowing red eyes. Wow, that was a mouthful.

A even more hilarious ad features Mitt The Ripper as a “serial killer” of companies. And who can forget when Herman Cain released a video showcasing the “small business bunny” being catapulted into the air and blown away by a shotgun, all while narrated by a creepy little girl.

Political ads will probably get more outrageous as the big day approaches. Stay tuned…
