‘Dance Moms’ Season 6 Cancelled Because Of Abby Lee Miller? Lifetime Series Loses Viewers, Ratings Decline

Dance Moms may have been renewed for another season, but a new report suggests that Season 7 may be its last. Following the decline in ratings season after season, rumors claim that the hit Lifetime series is about to get canceled.

According to Radar Online, Abby Lee Miller’s legal troubles have been “destroying her career.” The outlet reported that the mid-Season 6 premiere of Dance Moms, which aired Tuesday, September 6, only drew 961,000 viewers, quite a drop from the 1.3 million fans who tuned in for the Season 6 premiere back in January. In further comparison, the premiere of Dance Moms Season 5 had 1.8 million viewers back in January 2015.

In June, Miller pleaded guilty to bankruptcy fraud and failure to report more than $10,000 worth of Australian currency she brought into the country in August 2014. In Theo Von and Matthew Cole Weiss’ weekly podcast, Allegedly, Miller admitted that she made a mistake and now she is trying to take full responsibility for her actions. The Dance Moms star added that she has no intention of putting the blame on anyone but herself.

“I’m not going to deny anything, they were my mistakes. I am taking full responsibility for them, I have to. There’s no passing the buck. If I did it wrong, I was wrong.”

In spite of her tough demeanor, Abby Lee Miller shared that she still feels lonely at times. While she has “great friends” who help her, she shared that most of them were all over the country. The ALDC coach added that she used to count on her Dance Moms co-stars, but that just isn’t the case anymore.

“It used to be the moms until recently and I don’t know, you know.”

Miller admitted that she is “scared to death” of going to jail, adding that the whole situation has been “humiliating and embarrassing.” When she was charged with 20 counts of fraud in 2015, prosecutors initially demanded she spend five years in prison and pay $5 million in fines. Miller, however, shared that she is still trying to keep a positive outlook on life.

“I think if I didn’t have a sense of humor and I couldn’t crack some jokes now and then I would have already gone insane.”

The Dance Moms star said that she wanted to serve as an example to other people. She shared that her parents taught her to take things in stride, put her chin up, and ignore the naysayers. Miller also wanted to remind her critics that she is just a human being, who sometimes makes mistakes, adding that the important thing is that she now knows how to own up to them.

“I want people to know that I’m human… I’ve been through hell,” she added.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Abby Lee Miller shared that the recent events had been “extremely challenging,” not just to her and her family, but most importantly to her ALDC students, which is why she made the “very difficult decision” of closing the door on that chapter of her life by accepting responsibility for mistakes she made along the way. The Dance Moms star hoped that she could eventually return to her normal life, doing what she does best, “helping young dancers fulfill their potential.”

One of her students, Kendall Vertes, however, does not seem at all impressed by Miller. During the Dance Moms Season 6 pre-premiere episode last week, she called what has been happening to her coach “karma.”

“I’m just gonna say one word: Karma. She doesn’t really have her life planned out yet. She doesn’t know what she’s gonna do,” she said.
