Duggar Family News: Jana Duggar Owns A Tattoo Shop, ‘Counting On’ Loses More Sponsors

The Duggar family is trying to prove that they’ve moved on from Josh Duggar’s sexual molestation scandal by keeping their new TLC series, Counting On, focused on the same major life events that 19 Kids and Counting followed. However, mission trips, baby talk, and new courtships haven’t made advertisers forget that the Duggars hid a dark secret from their fans for years while portraying themselves as a wholesome, holy family.

Luckily, Jana Duggar may have a backup plan in place if her career as a reality show star comes to an end. According to a recent report, she’s now the proud owner of a former tattoo parlor.

Advertisers are continuing to distance their brands from the Duggar family, as reported by In Touch Weekly. The latest companies to come out against Counting On include Credit Karma and Bob’s Discount Furniture, both of which did not intend for their ads to run during last night’s episode of the show. The TLC network has reportedly aired Credit Karma ads twice during Counting On without the company’s permission.

“The ad that aired was a mistake. Our position has not changed and we will not be advertising on that show,” a rep for the credit management platform said.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, dozens of companies have asked TLC not to air their ads during the Duggar family’s reality show, and at least one company, Hotwire, has decided to pull its advertising from TLC altogether. To make matters worse for the Duggars, Counting On’s ratings continue to drop, and fans are complaining about Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar having larger roles on Season 2 of the 19 Kids and Counting reboot.

Members of the Duggar family have had long, lucrative careers as reality show stars. According to People, they were once paid $25,000 to $45,000 per episode of 19 Kids and Counting. It takes many people a year of hard work to earn this much money, and the Duggars will definitely have to get accustomed to a different lifestyle if they lose this source of income. However, they have the family real estate business to fall back on, so they probably won’t go broke if unhappy advertisers and falling ratings ultimately lead to the cancellation of their show.

According to Starcasm, Jana Duggar may already be following in her father’s footsteps by flipping her own properties — the 26-year-old stay-at-home daughter recently spent $95,000 on a former tattoo parlor and body piercing shop located in Springdale, Arkansas. There’s some speculation that Jana may be leaving home to start her own business after spending most of her life working for her parents as a live-in nanny.

Over on the “Duggar Family News: Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray” Facebook page, some Duggar fans are dreaming that Jana is going to open her own childcare business, ice cream shop, or thrift store that only sells modest clothing. However, others believe that Jana has no say in what is going to be done with the former tattoo parlor and that Jim Bob is actually behind the big buy.

“It’s probably a way for Boob to get out of paying taxes,” Wendy Chumley Garland wrote. (Note: “Jim Boob” and “Mullet” are the nicknames some Duggar family critics have given Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.)

“This is pretty typical of the way to hide money among family and evade taxes. It’s legal, but we all subsidize the wealth of others,” Deborah Martin-Plugh commented.

Other commenters speculated that the Duggars are afraid of being sued and are trying to protect their assets.

“Probably a way for Josh to bring in money and not have to loose it when he looses in court and is ordered to pay a bunch of money,” Katrina Cabral wrote.

“I would venture a guess that it has something to do with the possibility of potential lawsuits that the babysitter Boob Jr molested could file,” Dawn Clark suggested. “She can sue him but she can also sue the Mullet and Jim Boob and part of that lawsuit can involve property. I would be more then willing to bet that Jim Boob has moved a lot of property out of his and the Mullet’s name to protect it from being seized.”

Last summer, Josh Duggar confessed to sexually molesting five young girls as a teenager. Four of the victims were Josh’s younger sisters, but the fifth victim was a babysitter who was not related to the family. In Touch Weekly reported that this unnamed victim was looking into filing a civil lawsuit against Josh Duggar last July.
