Nick Jonas Strips For ‘Running Wild With Bear Grylls’ [Video]

Nick Jonas may be known for his singing and enthusiastic concert performances, but it seems he’s now exploring another talent: acting. Nick was featured in the most recent episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, where the singer stripped down and bravely exposed himself to freezing temperatures in crossing a lake with survivalist Bear Grylls. Just as that episode airs, news has also been revealed that Mr. Jonas is in talks to sign up on a new Dwayne Johnson film project. While Jonas may not be giving up his music career entirely, it does seem as though he’s interested in building up a portfolio that includes television and film, as well as his musical endeavors.

Running Wild With Bear Grylls Guest Nick Jonas Strips Down

Jonas removed everything except his boxers when he was compelled to cross a lake on Running Wild with Bear Grylls with the show’s host, reports Entertainment Weekly. Complicating matters further were the below freezing temperatures of the water, which drew grunts and groans from Nick, as he launched himself into the water. The singer wasn’t going to give up, however. He forced himself to cross the lake, chanting motivational mantras, as he waded and pushed himself through the waves of frigid water.

“We can do this. We got this,” Jonas yelled. “It’s all us, baby! Let’s go!”

Frostbite wasn’t the only concern in exposing himself to the freezing temperatures. The “Voodoo” singer also suffers from diabetes, so, once he was back on land with his host, Grylls used his armpits to warm up Nick’s feet, which had lost circulation due to the cold water. Fortunately, the Running Wild with Bear Grylls survivalist knew exactly what to do to help Nick before there was any serious damage.

“It’s the warmest part of the body,” Grylls said of his armpit technique. “Well, second warmest, but I wasn’t going to subject Nick to that after that ice swim,” he later joked.

Nick Jonas appeared on Monday night’s season premiere. Running Wild with Bear Grylls aired a second episode Tuesday night with guest Julianne Hough on NBC.

Nick Jonas In Talks For A Role In Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji Reboot

Director Jake Kasdan is recreating the beloved Robin Williams classic Jumanji and is hoping to bring Nick Jonas on board with his already star-studded cast, reports Variety. In addition to the hopeful casting of Jonas, Jumanji‘s cast boasts Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart. The original film was adapted from the popular children’s book of the same name, but the current project will be more of a re-imagining of the original script as opposed to a direct adaptation of the book.

Writing the reboot script are Scott Rosenberg (Con Air, Gone in Sixty Seconds) and Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Zoo), based on a draft by the original Jumanji writers, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

In the original 1995 Jumanji, Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde, and Bebe Neuwirth filled out an impressive cast of characters in telling the story of a 12-year-old boy who, after playing Jumanji in 1969, becomes trapped within the game for 26 years.

There’s no word yet as to which character Nick Jonas will play in the Jumanji reboot. Although these are only early talks, it makes sense that Jonas would take the role if the decision were up to him. The singer has recently shown an interest in adding more credits to his acting resume. Even before Nick stirred things up on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, he appeared on a number of television shows, including Kingdom and Scream Queens. This year’s Sundance film Goat was Jonas’ first feature film role.

The Jumanji reboot is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
