WWE Breaking News: Roman Reigns Suspended For Violating WWE’s Wellness Policy

WWE’s official Facebook page has just announced that former three-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns has been suspended for 30 days after violating the company’s wellness policy. It’s unknown what substance he tested positive for as of this writing.

It’s also unclear when Reigns’ failed test came back, but his WWE World Heavyweight Championship loss could be directly related to the failure.

On Monday, WWE announced that Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship would be the main event of next month’s WWE Battleground show, and now that match will likely be changed to Rollins vs. Ambrose.

Reigns’ 30-day suspension started today, so that’ll mean that he’ll be back just after WWE’s draft concludes. The draft will take place on the July 19 episode of SmackDown, and Reigns will probably be one of the top picks in the draft.

Obviously, WWE has been trying to position Reigns as the new face of the company, and at this point, it’s unclear how his wellness violation will impact his position going forward. There has been some speculation that Dean Ambrose, who just won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship two days ago, will now be in the Roman Reigns spot.

The triple-threat match that was originally scheduled for Battleground will probably be moved to SummerSlam in August.

This is Reigns’ first wellness violation, which is why he’ll only be suspended for 30 days. Below is WWE’s official statement on the matter.

“WWE has suspended Joe Anoa`i (Roman Reigns) for 30 days effective immediately for his first violation of the company’s talent wellness policy.”

Reigns also issued a statement regarding the failure.

“I apologize to my family, friends and fans for my mistake in violating WWE’s wellness policy. No excuses. I own it.”
