Selena Gomez May Be All Grown Up, But She Still Makes Time For Her Young Fans
Selena Gomez is currently on her Revival Tour, where she’s been embracing her sexier image and seen getting angry onstage.
That’s right. The former Disney star let it all out during her concert at Barclays Center on Wednesday night, June 1. Gomez stepped out in a black gown over a black bodysuit and a black mesh catsuit, according to a review in the New York Times.
“The tour is the next step in Ms. Gomez’s makeover from wholesome, baby-faced Disney Channel child actress and good-girl tween-pop hitmaker to a grown-up woman with her own desires, authority and angst.”
Selena shed her pop tart past and experimented with rock music and electronic dance music during the show. In a series of black costumes, she belted out radio hits like “Same Old Love” and then dropped the f-word on the song “Sober.” But Selena’s fans were happy when she went back to her roots and sang the peppy song “Who Says,” an anthem for those battling their own insecurity.
Gomez even introduced the angst-ridden song “Feel Me,” which calls out an ex-boyfriend. “I won’t be caught up in the middle/ Through your highs and lows,” she emotionally sang into her microphone.
She even performed a cover of Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This),” but even she could make the song sound sexy. Selena was back to her old self when she sang the positive “Kill Em With Kindness.”
As Selena Gomez figures out who she is, she made some time for her younger fans. According to Us Weekly, she was seen spending time with young kids in Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects Playground on Wednesday, June 1. Gomez was seen wearing a blue-and-orange bohemian print dress and orange-tinted retro sunglasses as she took off her shoes to run around barefoot in the park’s fountains and smiling brightly.
The brunette beauty then treated the kids to snow cones. Selena couldn’t help herself and ate one as well. The singer took to Instagram to share several photos from her fun and innocent afternoon. In one of the photos, Selena looks adoringly at the kids as they eat their snow cones. And then, in another photo, Selena has a childlike joy on her face as she runs through the water.
That night, Gomez had to swap out her summer dress for her sexy costumes as she performed on her Revival Tour. She even shared a photo of herself posing in front of her fans on Thursday, June 2.
Now her fashion director is opening up about the pop star’s dark and sexy looks on her Revival Tour. Selena’s three new costumes seen at the Barclay Center were designed by Monse, Rodarte, and Valentino, according to Billboard.
Christian Classen took to Instagram to let his followers know that his looks will be seen on a famous lady. One of the looks include a custom-designed emerald green sequined bodysuit with a red and pink faux fur coat, which Gomez wears in the final part of the show.
She also wore a black Valentino chiffon gown that featured sequined embellishments, which she paired with white Giuseppe Zanotti heels and a braid in her hair.
As for that black mesh bodysuit, it’s an updated version designed by Monse. The Swarovski-adorned bodysuit was attached to a black flowing gown, also designed by Monse. In addition to the new designs, Selena has also been wearing costumes by Giuseppe Zanotti, Karl Lagerfeld, Sonia Rykiel, and Vionnet.
