Leah Messer’s time on Teen Mom 2 might be short lived. The reality star is unhappy with how things have turned out on the show and apparently wants out. However, her contract might prevent her from quitting the series before the finale. Why does Messer want to leave the show?
An inside source has revealed to Radar Online that Messer would quit the MTV series, but her contract is preventing her from exiting. Messer’s main reasons for wanting to leave center on an editing controversy, which she believes paints her in a negative light.
“I’m 99.9 % sure those feelings were mutual,” Messer wrote on Twitter following the airing of her date with Jeremy Calvert. “I could go in detail, but won’t. Oh, how I love this fake a#% TV show. #SoOverIt.”
As fans will recall, the latest episode featured a “date” between Messer and her ex-husband, Jeremy Calvert. On the show, it looked like Messer was the one who initiated the date and wanted to get back with Calvert.
However, Messer was unhappy with how things played out on air. Specifically, she claimed that she was not the person who set up the date in the first place.
“The show did get edited to look like Leah was the one who did all of that, which isn’t true,” the insider explained. “The show keeps on editing it to look so different than it really is. Leah is upset, but she’s not shocked [by the editing].”
This isn’t the only time when Messer has found herself at the center of controversy. According to Radar Online, fans watched in shock when Messer failed to properly supervise her children during an outing at the park. Consequently, her daughter suffered a dangerous fall on the swings, while Leah had her back turned as she was gossiping with a girlfriend.
“I know kids fall, but Leah definitely wasn’t watching them at the park,” one fan noted. “Ali fell so hard. She didn’t even check her head. She could have gotten a concussion. All she did was wipe off her back.”
Speaking of her children, Wet Paint is reporting that Messer is currently in the middle of a custody battle with her first husband, Corey Simms. Leah recently lost primary custody of their twins, and she is fighting to get it back.
When discussing the impact of the custody change, Simms expressed his worries about what might happen to the kids if Messer gains more control over their lives.
“If it gets reversed, I just don’t know what else I can do,” he shared. “Leah is looking out for herself. Herself is all she cares about, but the kids are the ones that are getting hurt. It’s pretty messed up.”
Whether or not Messer succeeds in changing her custody arrangement will be interesting to watch unfold in the coming weeks. Considering her past neglect as a parent, fans are probably not going to react well if the news favors Messer.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Gossip is reporting that Leah’s second husband, Jeremy, and his girlfriend Brooke Wehr are doing their best at dispelling rumors that he is getting back with Messer. In fact, Wehr reportedly posted a picture of herself with Calvert on social media to prove that they are still together.
That being said, Wehr has since back-tracked on the social media post and claims that the picture was uploaded months ago and had nothing to do with Messer’s date with Calvert.
At this time, it is unclear if Messer is trying to get back with Calvert or not. Considering how their marriage ended in a nasty divorce just last year, it might not be a wise move for them to reunite yet.
