First ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Reactions Appear Online, What Do Critics Think?
Captain America: Civil War isn’t in cinemas for another month, but some very lucky critics have been privy to an early screening for the film, and they’ve even been allowed by Marvel to discuss their thoughts on the film, too.
And the general consensus, for the time being, is that it’s a huge success. You can check out some of the initial reactions to the film below.
Just saw @CaptainAmerica Civil War!!! Wow! Spider-Man Rocks! Best Action Sequences in any superhero film EVER! pic.twitter.com/5uTdpYvFw6

Captain America #CivilWar featured fantastic character driven writing & smart directing with both intense action & emotional moments as well

I’m pretty sure Captain America: Civil War is my favorite Marvel movie.

We have seen ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and it’s incredible. #CaptainAmericaCivilWar

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is a Barry Bonds steroids hitting home-run by Marvel & Russo Brothers. And I LOVED Spider-Man in the film. LOVED.

Oh yeah, the big fight in Captain America: Civil War is cinematic joy. And Spider-Man is so great. He’s in it more than I thought he’d be.

CIVIL WAR: This Spider-Man is SPECTACULAR. pic.twitter.com/AUex8LkE9c

Really incredible character work in #CivilWar. Spider-Man, Ant-Man & Black Panther kill it & Wanda/Vision & Bucky/Sam dynamics are wonderful

Captain America: Civil War is a complex mystery posing a big, fun superhero film. Lots of themes and emotions. Very unexpected & VERY good.

I honestly don’t know how Civil War works. There’s so much going on but it does. Spidey is AMAZING. Made me smile & laugh till my face hurt

‘Captain America: Civil War’ is so good, it’s a better Avengers movie than the last Avengers movie.

But not everyone was completely won over by Captain America: Civil War. Some journalists took to their Twitter accounts to instead register their disappointment with the blockbuster.
Just saw CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. Sloppy, boring, and essentially a remake of the first AVENGERS – a bunch of squabbling over nothing.
— Nick Robinson (@Nickrob) April 9, 2016
Others made sure to insist that while Captain America: Civil War isn’t completely perfect, it’s still a rollicking and enjoyable film that Marvel fans will enjoy.
I have to admit it. Captain America: Civil War a letdown after the high of Winter Soldier. It’s a better, smarter version of BvS.
— Jim Vejvoda (@JimVejvoda) April 9, 2016
So to wrap it up: it’s not perfect, but it’s a blast. Better than Age of Ultron. Not as cohesive as Winter Soldier. #CaptainAmericaCivilWar

But while most Marvel fans will be jumping for joy at the original reactions to Captain America: Civil War, they should also be warned that Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was originally met with a similar response after its first screening, too.
Obviously, once the critical consensus finally came in the reaction to Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice died down quite rapidly. In fact, the Zack Snyder-directed blockbuster now has a score of just 29 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
However, Marvel Studios films usually fare much better on the movie reviews website. In fact the lowest score that any of its 13 films have on there is just 67 percent, which is what 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World amassed. Meanwhile its highest is Iron Man’s 94 percent.
We’ll learn if Captain America: Civil War can top this total somewhere around its May 4, 2016, release date. And the above suggests that the chances of that are very, very promising.
