Nicki Minaj: Single Lady Or Taken?

In an odd turn of events, Nicki Minaj dropped a relationship-status bombshell on Ellen earlier this week, only to seemingly redact it, at her Las Vegas concert later that night. While on the popular Ellen DeGeneres Show Thursday, the 33-year-old rapper boldly proclaimed: “I don’t even want to say I’m in a relationship anymore.”

Concerning her then apparent status as a romantic free-agent, Minaj waxed philosophical, telling the 13-year talk show host, via E!online the following.

“He and I are just two souls right now passing through the universe, and I don’t know what’s going to happen. I just have learned over the years to just let things be and come and go as they are going to come and go.”

However, at Minaj’ aforementioned concert, prior to performing a song written by her on again-off again romantic interest, Minaj asked the crowd if they themselves had ever been in love. The provocative rapper then stated, “I really miss my baby tonight, but the show must go on. I’m a working woman. You gotta put on your big girl panties and go to work.” After receiving a mostly positive response from her audience regarding her statements, the Pinkprint artist performed for the sold out venue.

The man Minaj was referring to on both the Ellen DeGeneres Show and during her concert was, of course, Meek Mill. Mill (a.k.a. Robert Rihmeek Williams) is a Philadelphia born rapper who has reportedly been romantically linked to Nicki Minaj since late 2014.

Prior to hitting it off with Mill, Minaj had been in a 12-year relationship with musician Safaree Samuels, 28. However, when things went south for Minaj and Samuels, the Pink Friday Reloaded star began a “strong mental connection” with an incarcerated Mill via telephone conversations. After these developments, Minaj let everyone know that she and Meek had been friends for a long time before they took the next step.

Unfortunately, after taking that next step, Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill began experiencing relationship problems that played out in a very public forum. Minaj took to social media with perceived condescending remarks towards Mill, and the “Imma Boss” performer engaged in an embroiled feud with unabashed Minaj admirer Drake concerning lyrical authenticity.

Some postulate the Drake conflict caused Minaj’s affections towards Mill to sour. Minaj is an outspoken workaholic and feminist, and has been quoted as saying things such as the following statement.

“I can’t stop working, because it’s bigger than work to me. It’s having a purpose outside any man.”

When speaking to Ellen, Minaj further solidified her indecisive stance concerning Mill, minimizing her romantic-interest of over a year to simply “a boy with a crush.” When DeGeneres asked Minaj if she was wearing an engagement ring, Minaj responded with, “That’s not my engagement ring, though.” “He said that that’s my second ring and that if I get a third ring that that would be my engagement ring.”

When Ellen queried if Minaj was ready to be engaged, Minaj replied, “You know, I don’t know. We’re still figuring each other out. And in fact, I don’t even want to say that I’m in a relationship anymore, because I think when people hear that, they go to like the mean place and try to like– not you, though. You’re super. I love you to death.”

Minaj’s latest round of public comments were head-scratching material for sure. Stay tuned to the Inquisitr for the latest Nicki Minaj news. You won’t want to miss it.
