‘General Hospital’ Stars Kirsten Storms And Brandon Barash Have Split, Real-Life Couple Confirms They Are Divorcing

In shocking news coming from the world of daytime drama, a divorce of a favorite real-life soap couple is in the works. General Hospital stars Kirsten Storms and Brandon Barash have made the announcement that they have split up and are in the midst of a divorce.

The couple met while on the set of General Hospital, and they eventually fell in love and got married in 2013. They have one daughter, 2-year-old Harper. According to Soap Opera Digest, this was not an easy or quick decision for Kirsten and Brandon. They explained that they tried repairing their broken marriage by getting professional help, but they ended up making the best choice for them, and that is to live apart.

“It’s not anything that we dislike about each other, but we’ve decided that raising our daughter in two separate homes would be a healthier choice for all of us.”

The General Hospital duo is doing what they feel is best for them and for their daughter. Harper is the light in their lives and both feel like this is what is also best for her. They will be co-parenting to the best of their abilities to give Harper a healthy environment as she grows up.

According to Us Weekly, Storms and Barash got hitched in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas. Storms was expecting their baby at the time as well. The couple has said that they will remain friends despite no longer being married. Their split is surprising for all of the General Hospital fans out there who have been following this couple as they started their new life together three years ago. Storms has also been posting many photos of Harper ever since she was born. Fans have loved getting to know this family-of-three. They may be quite shocked that they have chosen to call it quits.

Many will try to speculate on what happened between them, but it sounds like they have just not been communicating, as Kirsten had mentioned. Her soon-to-be ex-husband told Soap Opera Digest that they have no hard feelings toward each other.

“We are splitting due to the cliché irreconcilable differences, but we’re splitting amicably.”

Storms, who plays the role of Maxie Jones on General Hospital, stated that they are enjoying being around each other now more than they did when they were together as a couple. In fact, they are both heading to New Jersey this coming weekend to attend the General Hospital Fantasy Weekend fan event. It sounds like she is looking forward to it. However, don’t expect any bad feelings between the two of them.

“If fans are looking to go and watch us be awkward with each other, that’s totally not going to happen. We are getting along, and I would say enjoying each other’s company more now that we don’t have the pressure of what comes with a relationship added on to that.”

Brandon says that they have both been truthful with everyone and that there is no reason to think that anything else happened between them other than what they spoke of. Barash is no longer on General Hospital as a regular, but he did temporarily return to portray his long-time role of mobster Johnny Zacchara last year for a short time. Harper also has an off-and-on role on the ABC soap portraying Maxie’s daughter, Georgie. She is already a little superstar, just like her parents.

This is sad news for those who were rooting for this real-life soap couple to make it for the long haul. However, it is not to be. They are moving on with their lives separately, but they will always be connected through their daughter and as friends. Brandon could very well make his way back to Port Charles eventually, but probably not anytime soon. Fans will just have to wait and see what develops in this couple’s future.
