‘Sleepy Hollow’ Monsters Finally Claim A Main Character

Sleepy Hollow shocked its viewers on Friday night when it killed off one of the show’s main characters in a twist that is sure to break a few hearts. The program has long been one that puts its stars in mortal danger on a weekly basis, but these kinds of shows can annoy their audiences when they are continually finding their way out of danger, unscathed. Just a few weeks ago, an episode of Sleepy Hollow had Ichabod finding himself in the same apartment with an evil god for hours, and there wasn’t even a hair hurt on his handsome head. For those who haven’t watched the latest episode of Sleepy Hollow, be warned, there are a fair amount of spoilers from last night’s episode below.

Joe Corbin has been claimed by one of the monsters on Sleepy Hollow and unfortunately for him, the monster that claimed him is the monster that was inside him all this time. Those who have been watching Sleepy Hollow since the beginning know Joe is the son of Sheriff August Corbin. When he first appeared, he had been cursed to walk the earth as a Wendigo. This creature is known to folklore as a kind of cannibalistic monster with great strength and speed which kills using massive claws. It derives its powers from eating human flesh and organs. Eventually, Joe was able to push the beast back down inside but in recent episodes, the beast has been making a comeback.

As Deadline points out, Joe Corbin was first introduced to Sleepy Hollow fans during Season 2 and he became a series regular for Season 3. Now, it appears his run on the program is over as he was killed off in the final moments of Friday’s show. While Joe thought he had overcome the curse yet again, it turns out he was wrong and he transformed into the Wendigo yet again. While the Sleepy Hollow crew had managed to get him back under control in the past, this time Jenny had to kill him in order to save the others.

In case any Sleepy Hollow fans are hoping there will be a chance that Joe Corbin might actually be okay, the actor that plays the character on the Fox supernatural drama sent out a tweet which confirmed he was indeed finished on the show. Zach Appelman’s tweet also seemed to show that he and Lyndie Greenwood, who plays his love interest on Sleepy Hollow are close friends in real life as well. He included Greenwood in his tweet and she responded she was going to miss him on her own Twitter feed.

Whether or not Greenwood will have to go all that long without Appelman is still up in the air. After the latest version of Sleepy Hollow aired, an interview on Entertainment Weekly was published with Appelman. Among the questions the website asked the actor was whether or not Sleepy Hollow fans have seen the last of Joe Corbin. His response was rather cryptic but it doesn’t appear he has plans of coming back next season, should there be a next season.

“It’s Sleepy Hollow, so there’s always a chance. There’s always a chance of flashbacks, and there’s always a chance of ghosts and spirits. Whether or not that’s in the works, I have no idea. But as of right now, from what I know: He dead.”

Appelman told the publication. TV Line has found out from Fox that Joe Corbin will indeed make at least one more appearance, in the season finale. Beyond the season finale, no one really knows what might be in store for Joe Corbin or Sleepy Hollow since the show has not been picked up for a fourth season yet.
