More Sumo Adversary Maps Added To ‘GTA Online’ Alongside Another Full Week Of Bonus Events

Over the past year, Rockstar Games has released an increasing number of free updates that have added a series of different adversary modes to Grand Theft Auto Online. After already seeing dozens of these fun-sized competitive matches in GTA V, the newest Sumo Adversary Mode has really struck a chord with the community. In the free March update, fans were first treated to the launch of the Sumo game type. Now, just weeks later, players can now try out two new maps for the Sumo Adversary Mode in GTA Online.

In essence, Grand Theft Auto V‘s new Sumo matches are simply a vehicular version of the popular Japanese sport. The adversary mode places competitors inside of a designated area and challenges players to push their opponents out of bounds. Following the quick rise in popularity of the initial wave of Sumo maps, the Rockstar Newswire blog announced today that the developer has now added two more locations to the Sumo Adversary Mode’s available playlist. In addition to another rooftop map, players can now crash into each other while on top of a boat found in the Los Santos docks.

“For those who love the new SUMO mode recently released with Lowriders Custom Classics, we’ve got two treacherous new maps that have just been added today. Watch out for the cracks as you smash, bash and barge in high atop the SS Bulker at the docks in Sumo V – and take to the roof of Sightings Bar & Restaurant at the airport for the ultimate dance of destruction in Sumo VI.”

To give fans even more reasons to try out this week’s newly added maps for the Sumo Adversary Mode, Rockstar Games also announced that yet another week-long GTA Online event begins today. In honor of the new Sumo locations, the team is turning on double rewards for all Sumo matches. From now through Sunday, fans will receive twice the normal amounts of RP for participating in any Sumo match. On Monday, the bonus RP will rotate to affect all street races and the event will finish the week out with extra rewards in different races within Grand Theft Auto Online.

In addition to bonus mission rewards, Rockstar Games is also offering up some huge discounts on select items. Included as part of this week’s sale, GTA Online users can now get 25 percent off vehicle modifications from Benny’s Original Motor Works garage as well as discounted rates on every large vehicle garage in the game. There are also a few sales found at GTA V‘s Ammu-Nation stores that provide savings on weaponry such as machetes and the machine pistol.

“Celebrate today’s arrival of the new Sumo maps and the upcoming release of the Tornado Custom with Tornado Week today through Thursday April 7th. Log into GTA Online all week long for special Double RP opportunities in curated Playlists as well as in all Sumo Adversary Modes plus Contact Missions from GTA Online: Lowriders, great deals on custom body mods and 10-car garage properties and lots of discounted items from the first Lowriders update. No April fooling here – take advantage starting today!”

This week’s sales will also help players customize and store the new Declasse Tornado Custom which Rockstar Games revealed will release in a new content update heading to Grand Theft Auto V next Tuesday. As the Inquisitr reported earlier this week, the developer recently teased the upcoming launch of the Tornado, which will be the latest vehicle that can be fully modified at Benny’s lowriders shop. Rockstar Games also plans to release multiple livestreams of the current in-game events throughout the week via their official Twitch channel.
