‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Looking To Replace Kim Fields With Controversial Stacey Dash For Season 9?

Looking To Replace Kim Fields With Controversial Stacey Dash

While The Real Housewives of Atlanta is currently approaching the end of Season 8, rumors of who might be joining the cast next year are already starting to circulate. Topping the list of newcomers is none other than Fox News’ Stacey Dash. Adding someone as controversial as Dash to the reality series would certainly bring more drama, but is the network really going to cast her for Season 9?

According to Starcasm, producers are willing to let one of the current cast members go in order to bring Dash into the fold. Although nothing officially has been announced, an insider told the outlet that Kim Fields is the one getting the boot. At the same time, producers are reportedly offering Dash an astounding $2 million to be a part of the hit reality series.

That being said, there are a few complications with the Dash rumors. For starters, Dash has yet to make any sort of comments that indicate she is interested in the part, let alone sitting down for negotiations. Furthermore, the ninth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta hasn’t been approved by the network, which makes it seem less likely that producers have already started the casting process.

While it is still unclear whether or not Dash will join the reality series, there is good reason to believe that Fields is on her way out. According to MNR Daily, NeNe Leakes expressed her concern for Fields’ future on the show during a recent interview.

“I never said I wanted her off the show. I just said she isn’t a good fit for the show. But that doesn’t mean I want her off. It’s not a good thing if you don’t ‘fit’ with the cast,” Leakes stated. “I just don’t think she’s like the most exciting character ever. I think they thought she was going to be something that she’s not. I personally like her as a person, but if I was casting, she wouldn’t be my choice.”

Drama has always been the main component of the Real Housewives franchise, and the ability of its cast members to generate that drama keeps them on the show. And the show may just not have been a fit with Fields, who confirmed she was leaving The Real Housewives of Atlanta on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.

“It feels more like Brett Favre and the Jets, you know — I’m done,” Fields said, referencing the quarterback’s single season with the NFL team. “I think about too, at the beginning of the season, what did my mama say? ‘Get in and get out.’ Listen to your mama.”

Speaking of drama, Perez Hilton is reporting that Dash would have little trouble bringing her share of controversy to the show. Most recently, the Fox News correspondent generated headlines after her comments on race and Hollywood. During an appearance on Fox & Friends, Dash shared her thoughts on the limited diversity during the recent Academy Awards ceremony, which some black actors and black actresses chose to boycott.

“We have to make up our minds. Either we want to have segregation or integration. If we don’t want segregation then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the [NAACP] Image Awards, where you are only awarded if you are black,” Dash stated during the show.

While Dash would be a good addition to the show, there is a chance that Dash will not be a part of the series when it returns to television for its ninth season. Even more, Fields might be set for a return to the reality show despite Leakes’ misgivings.

According to Gossip Cop, the reports that Fields has been fired from the show are unfounded. Although the outlet did not cite any specific evidence to back up their assertion, they did state that the reports of Fields’ firing and the hiring of Dash were not based on reliable sources.

The current season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sunday nights on Bravo.
