Law & Order: SVU Season 17, Episode 18 is titled "Unholiest Alliance." As The Inquisitr previously reported, promotional photos for the upcoming episode were released, which showed Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) was still part of the NBC police drama. SVU fans are in for a treat today because three video clips for "Unholiest Alliance" are now available. What will happen when the Special Victims Unit returns this Wednesday? According to the promo clips, Sister Nina is missing and Ed Tucker may be in danger.
The synopsis for "Unholiest Alliance" reveals that it is the follow-up episode to "Manhattan Transfer." On the last episode of Law & Order: SVU, the Special Victims Unit investigated a sex trafficking operation that not only involved the Catholic Church, but had connections with police officers, judges, a district attorney, and even lawmakers. At the end of "Manhattan Transfer," Ed Tucker (Robert John Burke) was being investigated. ADA Rafael Barba (Raul Esparza) discovered that Olivia Benson was romantically involved with Tucker. As a result, Mariska Hargitay's character was transferred out of the SVU.
"When one of their own is implicated in a cover-up," the synopsis for "Unholiest Alliance" reads, according to Spoilers Guide, "the SVU struggles to unravel a sex trafficking operation deeply-rooted in government offices, the police department and the Catholic Church."The promo clip for Law & Order: SVU Season 17, Episode 18 shows Benson saying that other girls are in danger. Next, a dark-haired teenager is seen and she appears to be trapped in a van. It seems that the teenager may be held against her will and she looks around nervously. Moments later, there is a car crash involving the van and another vehicle, but it is unknown if any SVU series regulars are involved in the accident or not. The next video clip for "Unholiest Alliance" reveals more information. Posted by Spoiler TV, Benson and Tucker meet in the clip, but it is so Olivia can give Ed a warning. Apparently, someone is after Sister Nina and Benson fears Tucker might be next. What worries Olivia is that since Sister Nina's phone call, nobody has been able to reach her. Also revealed in the sneak peek for Law & Order: SVU is that Tucker is being bombarded with questions about his cousin, Father Eugene. Benson tells Tucker that he needs to be careful and she expresses disbelief that an investigation into Ed is even taking place.
In "Unholiest Alliance," the SVU is temporarily being run by Andy Karl's character, Mike Dodds. He tells Fin Tutuola (Ice-T,) Amanda Rollins (Kelli Giddish), and Sonny Carisi (Peter Scanavino) the reason why Olivia Benson was transferred. He also explains that Benson's transfer was sudden and that he was blindsided by the recent events. He seems uncomfortable giving orders to the SVU and doesn't hang around long. Dodds only says he will need their help in the sex trafficking case. Since Benson's connection to Tucker was discovered, ADA Barba is putting the SVU under pressure to follow up on the case. He doesn't say anything more and as Dodds hurries to leave the room, Finn gives an odd look to Rollins.
This case involves so many powerful people in Law & Order: SVU that nobody can really be trusted. The Special Victims Unit is going to have to be careful how they continue to investigate. They are not just trying to catch the bad guys in "Unholiest Alliance," but will be working to clear Olivia Benson's name, reputation and career.
