Catelynn Lowell Enters Treatment Center For Depression: ‘Teen Mom’ Stars, Husband, & Fans Support Her Battle


Fans of Teen Mom OG star Catelynn Lowell recently became concerned when she posted an Instagram revelation that she was seeking a way to return to her “normal self.” Catelynn’s post included a photo apparently shot from an airplane, reported Us Weekly.

“Arizona here I come… I can’t wait to be back to my normal self… this is for me and my family… Novalee and Tyler I love you both very much!!!” wrote Lowell.

The speculation that something was wrong with Catelynn began when the Teen Mom star and husband Tyler Baltierra, both 24, tweeted a variety of hints that Lowell was having problems.

“Please just pray for my wife,” pleaded Tyler. “For better or for worse… through sickness & in health… I will NEVER stop fighting for my wife. Keep her in your prayers… thank you.”

Moreover, Lowell revealed that she appreciates the support from her fans, revealing that she sometimes had dark times.

“You guys have NO CLUE on how much you lift me up sometimes,” wrote Catelynn in appreciation.

The duo have a 14-month-old baby girl, Novalee. Their 6-year-old daughter, Carly, was placed for adoption soon after her birth.

Lowell talked candidly on Teen Mom about her experiences with postpartum depression. Catelynn confessed that after Novalee was born, she felt moments of extreme darkness.

“It’s hard. I [didn’t] want to do anything,” recalled Lowell. “I [couldn’t] even emotionally or physically take care of my own self. I remember sitting in the bathtub and thinking, ‘I’m not waking up another day feeling like this.'”

Now, in an interview with MTV News, Catelynn shared that after battling depression and anxiety for so long that she has made the decision to go into a treatment facility in Arizona.

“I’m seeking help for myself and my family,” revealed Lowell. “Thank you to all of my supporters. My family and I would appreciate some privacy at this time.”

In response to speculation about the reason for Catelynn’s decision to enter treatment, Lowell also emphasized that the treatment will focus on mental health concerns rather than drug addiction. Catelynn tweeted that she is not in rehab.

Fans tweeted their support after Catelynn revealed that she was suffering.

In addition to fans, Teen Mom stars shared their support and love, reported ET.

Among those reality TV stars was Amber Portwood, who shared her love. Responding after showing how much he cares about his wife, Tyler Baltierra expressed his heartbreak.

“We love ya too Amb…its just hard to see her go through all this & be away from her for so long,” admitted Tyler.

Portwood has had her own battles in the past. Amber fought substance abuse, including spending time in jail.

“@TylerBaltierra @CatelynnLowell I know babe you will see her soon and I’m coming out in a couple weeks. Stay strong. Love you,” wrote Portwood.

Also expressing her support for Catelynn was Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans.

“@CatelynnLowell good for you girl! You have all the support in the world you need to get better. Rooting for you over here on this end,” emphasized Jenelle.

Among the responses from fans, several expressed their appreciation to Lowell and Tyler for their courage in raising awareness of depression, helping others struggling with the condition to feel less isolated.
