Could Nate Diaz Retire After Conor McGregor Fight? Dana White Thinks So

Nate Diaz had what might be considered the fight of his life on Saturday night when he defeated Conor McGregor. This fight is one that Nate Diaz will always be remembered for and could actually be life changing for Diaz in more than one way. CBS News shared that Dana White is now revealing that this could be the fight that convinces Nate Diaz to retire. Dana White was on The Jim Rome Show on Monday and talked about how he doesn’t know if Nate will ever return to the Octagon again. Nothing has been confirmed just yet.

Dana White is now revealing that this could be the last time that you see Nate Diaz fighting.

“Nate Diaz made a lot of money, a lot of money on Saturday night. If you know anything about Nate’s career and what he’s wanted, the kid was looking for a big payday. He got his massive monster payday. Hopefully, we see him fight again, but who knows. For me to try to predict what either of one of the Diaz brothers are going to do, that’s impossible.”

The thing is, Dana White is not talking about how much Nate Diaz made in the fight. Obviously, it had to be a lot of money if it was enough that Dana admits that Nate Diaz may never need to fight again.

MMA Junkie did share that Nate Diaz got a pretty good payday for the fight, but Conor McGregor was actually getting paid more than Nate to do this fight. They revealed that Nate Diaz was paid $500k for this big fight. They even shared that he didn’t get a win bonus for this fight, but it is hard to believe that Nate wouldn’t get anything extra for a win. They did explain that this doesn’t include what Nate Diaz made for sponsorship or other bonuses. UFC officials handed out additional $50,000 UFC 196 fight-night bonuses to Diaz and other fighters.

Dana White just wasn’t willing to share the figures of what Nate Diaz made, but when talking about Nate possibly retiring he did say, “I think it’s very possible. I can tell you this, you know I don’t ever talk money or anything like that. He made life-changing money that could definitely last him the rest of his life.” If Nate Diaz is smart with his money, it sounds like he could be set for life. The thing is, Conor McGregor didn’t even win the fight and got a huge payday as well.

There has been some talk about what Nate Diaz’s next fight could be, and speculation is that Nate would fight against Robbie Lawler for the welterweight title. This could be a fight that Nate would be open to if he continues fighting. So far, Nate Diaz isn’t speaking out at all and sharing his future plans.

Before this fight, it was shared that Nate Diaz had been training for a triathlon, so he was already in really good shape. Nate actually went to his Instragram page to tease that he wasn’t, but instead was in Cabo having fun and drinking with his friends. Of course, in the fight it was obvious that Nate Diaz wasn’t out of shape either.
