Lamar Odom Health Update: He ‘Gets A Little Better Every Day,’ Will Soon Be Released From Hospital

Lamar Odom is reportedly making positive progress as he continues to recover from a drug overdose sustained at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch, a legal brothel in Nevada, on October 13. Although there had previously been reports claiming Lamar Odom may never make a full recovery, and that he would likely need care for the rest of his life, a new report is more hopeful.

“[Lamar Odom] actually gets a little better every day,” an insider told Us Weekly on December 10. “He talks a bit more each day and walks with a walker, but still has trouble processing his thoughts. It’s very slow but little by little.”

After Lamar Odom was found unconscious on October 13, with mucus running out of his nose and mouth, he was said to be in a coma, and remained that way for a few days. Then, after waking up and beginning to communicate with the Sunrise Hotel staff, Lamar Odom was transferred to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Throughout his health crisis, Lamar Odom has reportedly suffered from organ failure and brain damage, but soon, he will reportedly leave Cedars-Sinai and head to a rehab facility near his estranged wife Khloe Kardashian’s home.

In the meantime, Lamar Odom continues to receive visits from his former partner and her family, most recently her sister, Kim, and Kim’s husband, Kanye West.

“Kanye came by [Lamar Odom]’s room when he was at Cedars to play him a new song,” the source said. “Khloe brought him down to visit, and Kanye was nice.”

Just last month, Radar Online shared a more dire report regarding Lamar Odom’s health and prognosis.

“[Lamar Odom]’s still having a lot of trouble speaking,” an insider told Radar Online on November 24 of Lamar Odom’s current status. “[Lamar Odom] really only ever mumbles, and can barely string a few words together. It’s obvious he has extensive brain damage.”

According to a prior report by E! News, “drugs were found in [Lamar Odom’s] system” after he was hospitalized in Las Vegas, and the situation was described as an “overdose.”

During the ordeal, Lamar Odom suffered from a “loss of oxygen but also possible stroke,” said the source

“So, likely there’s brain damage, but they’re not sure how much. Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system.”

While it wasn’t confirmed at the time of the report, Lamar Odom was said to have suffered from an ischemic stroke, which is “caused by a blood clot preventing blood flow to the brain.” According to E! News, the particular type of stroke was often associated with a cocaine overdose.

“[Lamar Odom] was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucous,” the insider explains. “They’re now having to fix all the damage it has done.”

As Lamar Odom attempts to get his life back on track, his soon-to-be ex-wife, Khloe Kardashian, and her family, continue to film scenes for their E! Network reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and during a couple of the recent episodes, Lamar Odom was a hot topic. Last week, Lamar Odom’s name was mentioned during a chat between Khloe, Kourtney and Kim, in which Khloe revealed she was finally ready to move forward with her divorce after initially filing in December, 2013.
