Jessa Duggar Seewald took an endless stream of selfies before she gave birth to her first child, but the new mom stopped sharing photos of herself shortly after baby Spurgeon’s November 5 debut. Jessa still hasn’t shared a post-birth selfie, and her husband, Ben Seewald, has also taken a break from posting any photos that feature Jessa. However, Jessa Duggar’s friends and family members recently provided proof that Jessa looks healthy and happy after surviving a home birth scare that landed her in the hospital.
Over on the Duggar Family Official Facebook page, Jessa Duggar’s parents shared a photo of their third daughter spending a little quality time with her sisters. As you can see, Jessa recently enjoyed an outing with Jinger, Jana, and Joy-Anna Duggar.
One of Jessa Duggar’s close friends, party planner Sierra Jo Dominguez, also shared a photo of Jessa and Spurgeon. It looks like Jessa and Ben’s baby boy was getting to know a future playmate who is in his age range.
It seems as though Jessa Duggar has fully recovered from her home birth nightmare. According to People, the Jill & Jessa: Counting On star managed to successfully deliver baby Spurgeon at her home in Arkansas, but Jessa couldn’t avoid going to the hospital. She started bleeding profusely after her delivery, so her mother, Michelle Duggar, called 911. Jessa was taken to the emergency room to undergo a blood transfusion, and her dreams of a picture-perfect birth story were dashed.
“I had dreamed about those first moments, getting to breastfeed right away, all that. And so when I had to go to the hospital, it was a shock,” Jessa Duggar said.
Jessa’s fans will be relieved to see that the Jill & Jessa: Counting On star looks well in her most recent photos, and she’ll probably be back to her old selfie-posting self in no time. In the meantime, Jessa Duggar is flooding her Instagram page with photos and videos of baby Spurgeon and her family members. She also recently shared a picture that has caused a stir among the ever-watchful Insta-critics who are quick to jump on Jessa whenever she posts something that they deem worthy of derision. Her latest controversy-causing Instagram post looks innocent enough: It’s a photo collage of a few snapshots that were taken during a baby shower for Spurgeon.
“The sweet women at our church threw a shower for our little guy! The decorations were so cute, and the desserts were fantastic! Thanks, ladies!” Jessa captioned the photos.
As Enstarz reports, some of Jessa Duggar’s followers were quick to label her a “selfish freeloader” for allowing her church to throw a second baby shower for Spurgeon. These critics assumed that Jessa was receiving gifts from the shower attendees.
“Selfish freeloaders,” one of her followers wrote. “Tell your baby husband to get a job.”
“Give the gifts to a shelter. You had what: more than 100 at the first one????? Go celebrate some struggling moms instead of continuing the ‘I had a baby’ thing,” another commented.
However, according to Us Weekly, Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald didn’t actually receive any gifts during the the huge “co-ed” baby shower that they threw back in October. Instead, Jessa and Ben asked their guests to bring written prayers or blessings. The couple plans on turning these words into a keepsake of some sort.
Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald probably decided not to accept any baby shower gifts because they’ve been criticized for accepting freebies in the past. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jessa Duggar was blasted for breaking a pay-it-forward chain at a coffee shop drive thru. Jessa accepted her free cup of coffee, failed to keep the chain going when she didn’t pay for the purchase of the customer behind her in line, and bragged about getting the coffee for free on Instagram.
According to the Ashley’s Reality Roundup, Jessa Duggar has also been slammed for telling Duggar fans which gift cards she prefers to receive in the mail. In a blog post, Jessa Duggar provided an address where fans could send her gift cards, and she informed them that her favorite stores are Target and Walmart.
“Her daddy has over $5 million and I thought they shop at thrift stores? Or was that just for the cameras? Daddy has taught them well to use their fame to get money,” one critic wrote after seeing the blog post.
In response to the backlash to Jessa Duggar’s gift grab, the blog post about the gift cards was edited. Jessa’s address was removed, as was the comment about her favorite stores.
Do you think it’s fair to criticize Jessa Duggar for attending a second baby shower?
