Ex-Disney Star Tiffany Thornton Loses Husband In Car Crash, Chris Carney Dies Leaving Behind Two Young Boys

Ex-Disney star Tiffany Thornton is mourning the loss of her husband, Chris Carney, who died in a horrific car accident early Friday morning. The crash happened on I-70 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he was riding with a friend, Ezekial Blanton, who also perished. They both died at the scene of the single car accident.

According to People, the crash happened around 1:30 a.m. as the two men were riding in their vehicle, but ended up losing control and they slammed into a tree as they were going around a curve. Carney was a passenger in the car that Blanton was driving.

The 35-year-old husband of Thornton is a former reality show personality for MTV and has been married to the actress since 2011. They have two sons together, KJ, 3, and Bentley, 21-months. He was also a musician as the lead singer for the band The Prom Kings. The MTV reality show called Twentyfourseven followed Carney and his brother Greg as they were both seen pursuing their dream of a musical career.

According to the Arkansas Times, Chris Carney had gone through drug rehabilitation a few years back and he was currently working as a probation officer for Hot Springs. He and his wife had supposedly moved back to that area last year with their two boys.

Carney’s mother is also the current mayor of Hot Springs. A statement was issued from the city expressing their deepest sympathies towards the Carney family.

“The City of Hot Springs Board of Directors, staff and employees extend their heartfelt sympathy to Mayor Ruth Carney, Rev. Ken Carney, Tiffany Thornton Carney, and the entire family upon the death of Chris Carney in a car accident which occurred early this morning. Please keep the Carney family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.”

Tiffany Thornton is best known for her role in Disney Channel’s Sonny with a Chance. She starred alongside Demi Lovato in the fan-favorite series. In fact, the blond actress had tweeted a post just last month saying how much she misses her co-stars from the Disney show and that she had made friends for life.

Demi was a bridesmaid at her wedding to Chris Carney. She hasn’t directly addressed her friend’s tragedy, but Demi did post on her Twitter today simply writing, “This can’t be real.” It is likely that she could have been referring to the accident. Many Demi fans, also known as Lovatics, have taken to social media to express their condolences for the Disney actress. Many remember her from the Disney Channel.

Tiffany, 29, currently has a job as radio show host for KLAZ 105.9. They also wrote on the station’s Facebook page that their hearts are breaking over this news. They are obviously close to Thornton and are very saddened by the news.

“Our hearts are breaking at KLAZ and Noalmark Broadcasting. Our Tiffany Thornton’s husband died in an auto crash last night. Please send up your prayers for Tiffany and her family. She is loved by us and our many listeners.”

Apparently, that stretch of road that the deadly crash happened on has had 12 deaths so far this year, according to the radio station’s Facebook page.

Just recently, Tiffany lost one of her best friends as she took to her Instagram to post some loving words for her. They had both stood up for each other at their weddings. It sounds like her death was just very recent.

“I keep thinking this can’t be real. One of my very best friends is gone and the place she holds in my heart will never be filled.”

Now the mom-of-two is dealing with yet another loss. It has got to be such a heartbreak for Thornton losing her two best friends in such a very short time.
