Miranda Lambert Opens Up About Blake Shelton Divorce, Calls Him An ‘Amazing Man’

It’s been nearly five months since one of America’s favorite country couples split. In July, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton announced that they had decided to go their separate ways, and now Lambert has opened up about their decision and how she is doing now as a single lady.

Miranda and Blake were married for four years and seemed to be the perfect couple. However, as Miranda puts it, they gave it their best “college try,” but it just didn’t work out.

“Marriage is a tough business, and we gave it our best college try,” Miranda said during a new interview with Cosmopolitan, reported by Entertainment Tonight.

The circumstances surrounding the former couple’s decision to divorce are still a mystery, with little to no details being revealed about their choice to lead separate lives.

“I had a great relationship with an amazing man,” the 32-year-old singer said, “so I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted.”

Before the world really had time to process Blake and Miranda’s divorce, Blake started a new romance with his fellow The Voice coach Gwen Stefani. While Shelton has seemingly moved on from his marriage, Lambert said she isn’t ready to start dating, and getting married again isn’t even something she is ready to think about. As of now, the “Little Red Wagon” singer is just focusing on living her life to the fullest.

“Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going, ‘Man, this sucks right now,'” Lambert told the magazine, adding that she will still be going full steam ahead with her music career.

“I feel the sexiest when I’m in my element, which is playing music,” she said. “It doesn’t really matter what I’m wearing necessarily or where I’m at, just on stage with my band playing music is sort of where I feel like I belong and that makes me feel sexy.”

Although Miranda doesn’t plan on striking up a relationship any time soon, that doesn’t mean she isn’t having some fun of her own. On November 27, Miranda shared a photo on Instagram of her and her friends hitting the road for a “glamping” trip.

“Ooh, I’m drivin’ my life away#txroadtrip #glamping#agnestheargosy #1975#airstreamphotobomb #lukelambert,” she captioned the photo.

Blake Shelton first broke his silence on his divorce during a September interview on The Bobby Bones Show, according to E! News.

“My life is all over the papers,” Shelton said during the radio appearance. “In Oklahoma, it happens so fast. Like, Miranda and I didn’t have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, or whatever we had. So, it was like once we filed for divorce…it was like a nine- or 10-day waiting period until it’s over. Even if we knew of rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that. By the time anybody knew anything, it was over. It was done.”

Shelton went on to explain that he and Lambert had discussed having an amicable split, and even referred to her as his “buddy.”

“Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this. It is what it is,” he said. “We’re buddies.”

Miranda Lambert recently performed her new single “Bathroom Sink” at the 2015 CMAs, where she took home the award for the Female Vocalist of the Year for the sixth year in a row.

Miranda’s full interview with Cosmopolitan will hit U.S. newsstands on December 3.
