Contrasting Birthdays For Kris Jenner And Lamar Odom

It’s been a big year for the Kardashian family. There have been highs and lows, triumphs and failures, all played out in the media and on their flagship reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. This weekend, two members of the Kardashian family, both of whom have arguably had the most difficult years, took time to celebrate their birthdays. And the parties couldn’t have been more different.

Kardashian family matriarch, Kris Jenner, turned 60 on November 5 and said goodbye to her tumultuous 59th year. According to Huffington Post, Kris Jenner filed papers in March 2015 to legally end her 23 year marriage to Bruce Jenner, after a year-long separation.

Three months later, Kris Jenner’s ex-husband confirmed rumors that their marriage dissolved in the wake of Bruce Jenner’s gender transition. Reality television specials commissioned by Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner revealed that both struggled to put aside hurt feelings and establish a friendship in the wake of their divorce and Caitlyn’s transition. In the Kardashian family’s reality special Keeping Up with the Kardashians:About Bruce…, Kris Jenner revealed a more vulnerable side of her personality, openly mourning the loss of her marriage and revealing her struggle to come to terms with Caitlyn’s perceptions of their relationship. By the time her 60th birthday arrived, Kris Jenner seemed back to her old self.

Kris Jenner celebrated her 60th with an epic party in West Hollywood. For their mother’s birthday bash, the Kardashian siblings selected a Great Gatsby theme, and all guests arrived in their best roaring 20s costumes. According to Radar Online, the guest list included Jenner’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, former Spice Girl Mel B, singer John Legend, and all the Kardashian-Jenner sisters. Jenner’s son-in-law, Kanye West, had the honor of singing “Happy Birthday.” As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the Kardashian sisters chipped in a combined $2 million for the lavish party.

There is no word on whether Caitlyn Jenner attended the party, but TMZ reports that Caitlyn appeared during a video montage. The former Olympic gold medalist appeared in a bubble bath and offered Kris Jenner a champagne toast.

Kris Jenner’s milestone birthday wasn’t the only one the Kardashian family celebrated on Friday, November 6. According to TMZ, the Kardashian-Jenner sisters, Kris Jenner, and Tyga all went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for a short birthday party to celebrate Lamar Odom’s 36th birthday. According to People, Odom’s wife, Khloe Kardashian arranged the party and signed off on all of the guests. In addition to the Kardashian-Jenner family, Lamar Odom’s former teammate, Kobe Bryant reportedly sent a gift and spoke with Lamar Odom over Facetime. The simple party reportedly included cake and balloons, and was approved by Lamar Odom’s medical team.

Odom has been at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since October 19, following a series of strokes he suffered on October 13 during a vacation at a Nevada brothel. The details of Lamar Odom’s collapse are still hazy, but cocaine was reportedly found in his system when he was hospitalized. Allegedly, Odom racked up a $75,000 bill at the Love Ranch during his stay there, mostly for the services of two prostitutes.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Odom’s recovery has prompted concerns that the former NBA star is in danger of relapsing into the drug addiction that apparently nearly killed him. On October 26, an unidentified man who claimed to be Odom’s assistant attempted to visit. At the time, Odom remained in an intensive care unit, and security refused to let the unidentified man in Odom’s room. Later, sources revealed that Odom’s management team fired the man after Odom was hospitalized, because they believed he contributed to Odom’s drug addiction.
