‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Sledgehammers And Letting The Sunlight In [Spoiler]

Season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy started off with a bang, literally. We have one character swinging a sledgehammer, literally, and another throwing and landing a well-placed punch. All while the song ‘Wrecking Ball’ plays in the background.

The Inquisitr reported that Shonda Rhimes has promised fans a lighter season, but there might still be a few storm clouds brewing. In the first episode of the season, viewers can clearly see there are still storm clouds. Life is not paradise at Casa Grey, where Meredith is now living with Maggie and Amelia. The three grown women have some living styles to work out, but Meredith would rather blame tequila. Meanwhile, Jackson and April feel more like a deep freeze than a mere storm.

According to Hollywood Life, there is a bonding moment for the surgical staff of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, when two girls come in after surviving a suicide pact because they are gay, and one girl’s parents want to send her away to a camp to ‘fix her.” The bonding comes when the homophobic mother focuses her rage on Dr. Maggie Pierce, who levels her with a punch to the face. Quiet, civil, polite Maggie Pierce has reached her threshold and snapped.

“It’s not that we wanted to die. This was just some way we could stay together forever,” she explains, revealing that her parents did not approve of the relationship and were trying to send her away to a camp to stop it. They even burned her box of sentimental notes from Aliyah.

And, hail to the chief! Dr. Miranda Bailey will not be denied her rightful position as chief, according to International Business Times.

“I should be chief…” the lab coat-wearing physician says in the trailer for episode two. “Oh, wait. I already am!” Bailey can then be heard letting out a howl of laughter.

The old Bailey is back, calling the shots and taking names.

“You know what they used to call her?” Callie says. “The Nazi.”

Oh, and Owen and Amelia shared a kiss. A passionate kiss. There will certainly be some changes on this season of Grey’s Anatomy.
