Just months after One Direction announced their hiatus, Harry Styles is already working on a solo music project, at least according to an inside source. He reportedly has around 20 songs written for his own solo endeavors and is possibly looking at movie projects.
MTV reports an undisclosed source close to the singer has revealed that Styles has been writing songs while on the road with his band and during his downtime. Styles hasn’t confirmed nor denied the rumors.
“Harry has been writing constantly both when on the road and when doing his own thing. He’s managed to work on and record 20 songs already. Some of what he’s written in the past has been given to the band. But he’s been working hard on creating his own sound.”
Yet, despite the insider’s revelations, Styles’ friend, X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw, insists that all members of One Direction, including Harry, are exhausted from going non-stop for five years, and what they all want most right now is to take a break.
“People think being a pop star is glamorous but it’s exhausting and disorienting at their level. They don’t see the world, they just do press in different cities. They’re men now and they need to experience some actual life. Everyone takes breaks. Katy Perry’s off at the moment. No one’s crying.”
Meanwhile, speculation regarding Styles starting an acting career resurfaced again this month. The rumor has followed the singer for years, after numerous people noticed Styles’ charm and demeanor.
However, although numerous producers are interested in Styles, including Harvey Weinstein, it doesn’t mean he’ll commit to acting projects anytime soon. The latest rumor is that the boy bander is preparing to make his acting debut in the upcoming film, Absolutely Fabulous. Styles hasn’t confirmed the “acting bug” rumors, but Weinstein says that it’s only a matter of time before Styles turns to acting on a full-time basis.
“There’s no question he will enter the movie business. I get from him that he wants to. When you meet him, he’s super-charismatic. He came to our Oscars party last year and then I went out to lunch with him. I’ve met him two or three times and he was very interested and charming. I think the guy is a movie star.”
Weinstein, the co-founder of Miramax, indicates he was so impressed with Styles that he wouldn’t even make the singer audition for him.
“He doesn’t even have to audition for me. We offered him a part and he couldn’t do the movie because he had the tour. The amount of money their tour did is crazy, so he’s got obligations.”
Until the rumors are confirmed, however, fans can still enjoy Harry Styles as he completes the European leg of One Direction’s On the Road Again (OTRA) tour, and before he takes a much-needed break from the road.
