Snapchat Will Allow You To Pay For Replays And Selfie Lenses

Snapchat has been known for its quick features of getting rid of a photo in 30 seconds, never to be seen again by another eye. But on Tuesday, the company announced a change in that feature. Snapchat is now allowing its users to pay for a replay of the snap for 99 cents.

This will be the second form of revenue that Snapchat has introduced to its users, the first being the advertised messages that now appear when you view stories.

Snapchat used to allow its users one free complimentary replay to see that one fantastic picture again, but quickly changed its tune this week. The California startup said, “But then we realized, a Replay is like a compliment! So why stop at just one? Today, US Snapchatters can purchase extra Replays, starting at three for $.99. They’re a little pricey, but time is money!”

On top of the paid selfies, Snapchat introduced new lenses for selfies taken through the app. These lenses include silly, scary, and weird sketches that mess with your eyes, teeth, and tongues. Rumor has it that Snapchat bought out Looksery, since the app is no longer available on the app store and the lenses are almost identical to the ones that Looksery offers. Snapchat hasn’t confirmed if Looksery was acquired by them, but this Tech Crunch article basically shuts down any doubt about it.

The lenses change daily and the way to access the cool lenses is by holding down on the front-facing photo capture screen. The lenses are also animated, so if you haven’t updated your Snapchat yet, I would suggest it so you can begin sending awesome snaps to your friends. The lenses work in both photo and video form, so you and your friends will be occupied for a while.

The last new featured they added was a trophy case. You can pull down the menu screen and at the top is a trophy that will show you all the achievements you have reached through Snapchat.

It looks as if Snapchat is trying to stay up with millennial users by adding cool and creative features to their apps and the more users that Snapchat has, the more likely it is to continue to gain more advertisers and money.

According to Sky News, Snapchat has nearly 100 million users a day and has become a widely popular way for people to share videos and photos.
