Kenneth Henry Bowser: 90-Year-Old Father Shoots And Kills His Son
Kenneth Henry Bowser called the police on himself after shooting his son, on Saturday, September 12, 2015. What could’ve happened to make a father kill his own son?
In Maplewood, Minnesota — on the 1200 block of Hilltop Court — Kenneth Bowser called emergency services shortly after 7:40 p.m. He let them know that he had shot his 65-year-old son, Larry Bowser — as reports CBS Minnesota. The motive behind the father-son shooting is undetermined at the moment, says Fox-9.
One of their neighbors, Eric Schmitz, told the news source that the older Bowser suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. And while undergoing in-house treatment and care, his son was the caretaker.
The 90-year-old father came out of the residence without incident and was taken by authorities. Inside the house, police found Larry’s body with a gun shot wound from the pistol his father used, says Star Tribune. It’s reported that no one else was in the house at the time of the shooting.
According to Fox News, after Maplewood police took Bowser into custody, they said he was articulate about how things went down.
“There were periods of time when he did have perhaps less kind of awareness, but in this particular instance he was very fluent, very clear about what happened, the sequence of what happened, so last night there were no difficulties or issues with his recalling what occurred…
Fox 9 continues as follows.
“In addition to providing answers to family members and the criminal justice system, we hope to explore potential strategies to intervene in such cases to prevent lethal acts of intra-familial violence.”
Police Chief Paul Schnell added that the department’s focus, at this point, is finding the motive. It’s assumed that an argument of some kind sparked the fatal confrontation. As reports MPR News, the chief added more.
“The exact motive we don’t know. There was no physical violence between the two men immediately preceding the shooting.”
As of now, Larry Bowser’s body is undergoing autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office to find out the exact cause of death. While the 90-year-old father could have been living out the rest of his years at home, he’s behind bars. Right now, Kenneth Henry Bowser is being held at the Ramsey County jail on suspicion of homicide. However, he’s supposed to be arraigned on Tuesday, September 15, 2015.
