Psyched For A Taylor Swift & Justin Bieber Super Bowl Gig? Here’s Why It Probably Won’t Happen

Call it a weak moment for Justin Bieber. Taylor Swift’s name came up when he appeared on The Today Show earlier this week and the pop star took the bait. Asked by Savannah Guthrie if he would consider performing at the Super Bowl halftime show with megastar diva Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber didn’t say no. He didn’t really say yes, either. But he did leave the door open. And in doing so, he set himself up for a fall. In a moment described by the website Zap2It as “diplomatic,” Bieber sheepishly left the door open for a possible collaboration with the “Bad Blood” singer.

“I’d be interested. I think that’d be great, I think she’s really talented.”

After a bit more prodding by The Today Show hosts, Bieber addressed Taylor directly by looking directly at the camera and saying, “I’m down.”

Hey, good luck with that, Justin. Really.

The fly in the ointment when it comes to a Justin Bieber/Taylor Swift singing and dancing extravaganza is that Serena Gomez, a prominent fixture in Taylor’s close-knit circle of friends, is Justin Bieber’s ex girlfriend. And the breakup between that particular power couple was long, complicated, and painful. For Taylor Swift, loyalty is a huge issue and folks close to the platinum-selling recording artist are reportedly saying that she is not likely to go against her pal Selena for a moment in the spotlight with Justin Bieber.

Celebrity news repository Hollywood Life quotes an unnamed source close to Swift as saying that the singer has no interest in doing the Super Bowl halftime show with Justin Bieber. Taylor Swift is apparently intrigued at the possibility of a Super Bowl show, but not with Bieber in the picture.

“Justin and Taylor will never do the Super Bowl together,” said Hollywood Life‘s informant. “He shouldn’t hold his breath. She wants nothing to do with him. She would love performing with Britney, Bruno [Mars] and so many others, but Justin is not in any plans for it to ever happen.”

News of Taylor Swift’s epic denial might strike a sour note with Beliebers, but at least he’s not the only superstar to run afoul of the songstress. Taylor has logged epic feuds with the likes of Katy Perry and others in the past. After a rough 2014, Bieber seems to be back on track this year. If he keeps moving in the right direction, he could nail down that Super Bowl gig just yet. And if he steers clear of Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber can probably avoid having a nasty song or two written about him. Nobody knows that better than Katy Perry, for sure.
