Selena Gomez Is Your New 'Neighbor'

Whether it was intentional or not has yet to be revealed, but the secret is now out. Selena Gomez is set to star in the sequel to last years shockingly triumphant Neighbors. According to Variety, news of Gomez's involvement in the film broke when excited fans took and posted pictures of her on the set. If the title to the sequel, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, wasn't enough of an indication to the direction of the film, Selena's outfit combined with the VW Bug and the bevy of matching college-age girls should give you a heads up.

That's not to say that the writers and directors have been loose and free with the plot; they haven't. It's still very tightly under wraps, according to E! Online. But do they really have to come out and tell us the basics? First, you have Selena Gomez. Oh, did you need more? Sorority is in the title. Yes, this could go in myriad ways, but it's safe to say that a sorority, instead of a fraternity will be the new instigator. Seventeen alleges that the fraternity house has become a sorority house, making it necessary for the Radners to start from square one. Their baby is not so new as it once was, but that won't make the ruckus of college life any easier to bear. This time around, though, they have an advantage. They've been here before and the new college graduate, Teddy Sanders, is available for consultation. That is, if he is able to break away from his very important shirtless greeter position at Abercrombie & Fitch.

In the first installment, the Radners are first time parents having trouble of epic proportions with their neighbors. Neighbors who happen to be a fraternity led by hunky, hunky Teddy and his pal, Pete. Honestly, it probably didn't need more plot than that; you have funny, you have an attractive cast, and a college atmosphere. Delight was sure to ensue. Adding Selena Gomez to an already popular cast can only be seen as a mark of genius.

Although Selena's role is has not yet been announced, we can tell you that she is joining a return cast. Gomez's fellow Disney pal, Zac Efron, will help her fit right in with returning director Nicholas Stoller, returning writers Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O'Brien, and returning talent Dave Franco, Seth Rogan, and Rose Byrne.

IMDB lists the release date for Neighbor's 2: Sorority Rising as May 20, 2016. Keep an eye on Selena's instagram, or at least follow any of her very dedicated fans. Details are sure to come rolling in before they are supposed to.
