‘The Flash’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far, From Barry’s New Love Interest To The Latest Casting News

It’s only about a month before the highly anticipated premiere of The Flash’s second season. With Season 2 just around the corner, what is in store for the characters in the hit superhero drama?

For starters, fans can expect to see a number of new faces as the show enters its second season. According to Pop Sugar, Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) will be playing Jay Garrick as the original Flash, while Shantel VanSanten will star as Patty Spivot, Barry’s new romance in the series. How far the series will take the storylines of these new characters is yet to be seen.

Additionally, according to Movie Pilot, Jesse Quick will be introduced as a new superhero in the series with powers of quickness and strength, and will be played by Violett Beane. The character description for Quick describes her as being a college-aged student who finds herself in the middle of the fight between The Flash and Zoom.

Speaking of new villains, two main antagonists that will be introduced are Zoom and Henry Hewitt, also known as Tokomak. While Hewitt is set to be portrayed by Demore Barnes, Zoom, who will be the primary foe this season, has yet to be cast.

Although fans may be familiar with Hewitt’s character, the TV series is expected to diverge from his portrayal in the comics. In the coming season, Hewitt actually becomes a member of Team Flash, and proves to be a strong meta-human. It is unclear when or how he changes sides and becomes an enemy of The Flash.

In addition to all the new cast members, the series will start things off with a time jump. Although the first season ended right in the middle of an action-packed catastrophic event, Season 2 begins months afterward. “We deal with the fallout of the cataclysm that happened at the end of the year,” Greg Berlanti explained. “As we used the particle accelerator to introduce the metahuman, we’ll be introducing characters from Earth 2 on the show.”

Meanwhile, Barry’s suit will get an upgrade for the new season. While his previous suit loosely resembled how he was depicted in the comics, Barry’s new suit contains a white circle. This is a direct reference to the suit that appears in the comics, which should appease die-hard fans.

Season 2 of The Flash is set to premiere on October 6, 2015, on the CW.
