Miley Cyrus will be hosting the 2015 Video Music Awards tonight and recently revealed to ABC News what the viewers could expect from the “Wrecking Ball” singer. Cyrus described last year’s awards as having “no energy” and said this year’s would be “psychedelic and raw.”
“What I’m trying to do is create my Instagram — which people love to think is so freaky — in real life,” she said. “It’s letting people into my world.”
Van Toffler, one of the executive producers of the show, who will be leaving the company, made the decision to bring Miley Cyrus on as the 2015 VMAs host as one of his last “crazy” stunts before his final day.
“He’s leaving, so he can’t get fired. He was like, ‘I want to do something crazy — I want you to host the VMAs, because I want that to be my last shebang.'” she said. “It’s like ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.'”
“She has a nice, fun history with the show, but she’s grown up since then,” Toffler said.
Miley, who has always been very open about her sexuality, recently revealed that she is “pansexual,” meaning that she is attracted to people of all gender identities, dbtechno reports.
“I’m very open about it — I’m pansexual,” she said. “But I’m not in a relationship. I’m 22, I’m going on dates, but I change my style every two weeks, let alone who I’m with.”
“I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that’s legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me. I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.”
If you will recall, Miley Cyrus had one of the most controversial performances during the 2013 Video Music Awards when she performed alongside “Blurred Lines” singer Robin Thicke. As part of the agreement for her to host the show, she said the producers weren’t allowed to make jokes about the famous “twerk.”
“When you look at it now, it looks like I’m playing hopscotch,” she said. “Compared to what I do now, it looks like nothing. I can’t believe that was a big deal. It wasn’t shocking at all.”
The 2015 VMAs will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 30, at 9:00 p.m. The pre-show started at 8:00 p.m.
