Zendaya On Judging Miss America Pageant: ‘It’s An Honor’

Actress Zendaya Coleman will reportedly join the judging panel for this year’s Miss America pageant.

People magazine reports that the K.C. Undercover actress is excited about being part of the pageant’s 95th anniversary. She issued an official statement expressing exactly why she is so happy about the opportunity.

“It’s great to be part of a show that celebrates women who are in college or graduated, and striving to make the world a better place through their chosen platform, ranging from domestic violence and bullying to cancer research and female empowerment, while also embracing beauty and fashion.”

Zendaya also stated that her appreciation for the Miss America pageant extends back to her childhood.

“I remember watching Miss America as a kid, so it’s an honor to help celebrate the 95th anniversary of the competition and to help select the next Miss America.”

The 18-year-old actress will not be the only famous face on this year’s judging panel. Multiple reports confirm that she will work alongside Brett Eldredge, Taya Kyle, the wife of the late Chris Kyle, as well as snowboarding star Amy Purdy.

In addition to her successful career as a Disney Channel actress and singer, Zendaya is also making some impressive moves within the world of fashion.

With her new shoe line, Daya by Zendaya, the Replay singer strives to make high-fashion, red carpet quality shoes affordable for her young fans.

During an interview with Fashionista, Zendaya had a chance to open up about her new deal with footwear company, Titan Industries, as well as her journey with them towards creating her collection.

“It was a lot of back and forth [with Titan]. There were times when we thought, ‘Okay, well, we can’t have that many studs, we got to take this off, we have to add a strap or take a strap away’…But at the end of the day we didn’t want to compromise the shoe.”

Zendaya further explained that she does not want her fans to feel as if they are wearing knock-off versions of high-fashion looks with her shoes.

“We don’t want the girls to feel like they’re wearing a knockoff, we don’t want them to feel like they’re wearing the look for less. We want them to just feel like they’re wearing the look.”

The former Shake It Up star has another hit Disney Channel series on her hands with K.C. Undercover. Chances are that her shoe collection, Daya by Zendaya, will also be a big hit with her fans after it debuts next spring.

In addition to getting ready to judge the Miss America pageant, Zendaya is also staying busy by working alongside longtime producer Timbaland on a new album, according to Seventeen magazine.
