Niall Horan Shades ‘Teen Choice’ Despite Eight Awards

One Direction star Niall Horan clearly has a lot on his mind. Niall and his One Direction band-mates have been enjoying a short break between legs of their latest world tour, and each of the boys has gone in their own direction to enjoy their leisure time. While Louis and Liam have jetted back and forward between London and the U.S., Harry has kept a low profile, and Niall headed off to Miami with friends to let his hair down.

Whilst on tour, Niall and his mates have dropped the lead single, “Drag Me Down,” from their forthcoming fifth studio album. Despite their commitments, Niall and the rest of One Direction have managed to fit in some promotional time for the single, and on Sunday, they joined with fans to celebrate #DragMeDownDay. It is understandable that things might slip Niall’s mind. You would think that the things he forgot would be small things, though.

It seems that when Niall puts his foot in his mouth, he does it in style. Unreality TV reports that Niall and his mates won no fewer than eight gongs at the Teen Choice Awards, but much to the disappointment of their fans, they did not attend to collect their awards in person. Yesterday, Niall took to Twitter to say that he “just woke up to a text to say that we won 8 awards.”

According to Goss, some of Niall’s fans were somewhat surprised that he wasn’t aware of the awards, especially given that Niall appeared in a pre-recorded video of One Direction accepting the award. One Direction fans are always quick off the mark, and one fan wanted to know why Niall was unaware of the awards given that he had made an acceptance speech.

Niall was forced to admit that he had forgotten the awards were on. To be fair to Niall, when you have been nominated for 237 awards so far in your career and won 198 of them, it must be difficult to keep track. Niall was quick to attempt a recovery from his gaff and reached out to thank fans for the role they play in One Direction’s success. Niall praised Directioners by saying that their support for One Direction is “mind blowing.”

It is extremely unlikely that Niall Horan intended any disrespect to the Teen Choice Awards or the fans who continue to support One Direction through thick and thin.
