Limo Crash Survivor Sues: Long Island Crash Survivor, Olga Lipets, Files Lawsuit In Crash That Killed 4 Bridesmaids

The limo crash survivor of a fatal accident that happened on July 19, in which four women were killed, is suing for unspecified damages. Olga Lipets, 24, from Brooklyn, was one of seven passengers inside the car when it was hit by a drunk driver in Long Island. The car split in two after it was t-boned while making a U-turn on Depot Lane in Cutchogue. The impact killed three women instantly, and another died at the hospital.

The New York Daily News reports that Lipets filed a lawsuit in Brooklyn Supreme Court on late Thursday. She’s suing both drivers and the company that owns the limo.

Jason Paris of Paris & Chaikin is representing Lipets, who’s seeking damages for injuries that she suffered after a pickup truck driven by Steven Romeo, 55, slammed into the limo she was in. Besides the four women who were killed, four others were badly injured.

The limo crash survivor’s lawsuit names Romeo, limo driver Carlos Pino, and Ultimate Class Limousine as the defendants. Lipets’ wants compensation for “serious injuries” and “sustained economic loss.” Since the accident, she’s been unable to work and requires further medical treatment, court papers reveal.

Paris says that his client is “totally heartbroken” and is “healing from her surgeries.”

Olga Lipets is a Lehman College graduate student who’s working on a Masters in speech pathology. She apparently still has her jaw wired shut, Paris says.

The eight women in the limo crash were leaving a vineyard around 5:30 p.m. on July 19 when Romeo’s truck crashed into the passengers’ side of the vehicle, just behind the front seat.

Romeo attempted fleeing the scene, but was arrested and charged with DWI. His blood alcohol level hasn’t been released, but he admitted to police that he was drinking beer at his home before getting behind the wheel that night. Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said that his blood alcohol content was.066 about and hour-and-a-half after the crash.

The four women killed in the tragedy were Brittney Schulman, 23, of Smithtown; Lauren Baruch, 24, of Smithtown; Stephanie Belli, 23, of Kings Park; and Amy Grabina, 23, of Commack.

People magazine adds that the other three women injured in the wreck besides Olga Tipets are Alicia Arundel, 24, of Setauket; Joelle Dimonte, 25, of Elwood; and Melissa Angela Crai, 23, of Scarsdale.

The limo crash survivor and the other seven women were celebrating a friend’s upcoming wedding when they were together. Those who were killed have been laid to rest, and several candlelight vigils have been held for them.
