Young Thug Skips Out On Preliminary Hearing, Accused Of ‘Terroristic Threats’

Jeffrey Lamar Williams, known to the public as Young Thug, can’t catch a break. Or maybe he can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Whatever the problem is, he has plenty of them. But it doesn’t seem to hinder his music career in any way whatsoever — his popularity continues to grow despite his legal and personal woes. In fact, he frequently posts his personal feelings about others or situations that has led some to speculate that he is gay, as was reported by the Inquisitr yesterday.

Some rappers are known for their involvement in petty crime, but not Young Thug. He’s hitting the big time crime scene, as in being charged for making “terroristic threats” against a mall security guard after the security guard asked him and his entourage to leave the premises. He allegedly told the mall security guard that he would shoot him. He fled the scene before police arrived, but was later arrested and made bond. However, he decided to skip the preliminary hearing of the “terroristic threat” case, which was likely not in his best personal interest. According to BET, during preliminary hearings, judges decide whether there is sufficient evidence for a case to proceed. He waived his right to appear for unknown reasons, but the case can and likely will go forward without him.

Unfortunately, during a federal raid of his home after the terroristic threats charge, federal authorities found a lot of contraband — namely marijuana, cocaine, and some type of weapons to add to the 22-year-old’s ever-lengthening rap sheet. While it’s highly likely he will be able to secure one of the best defense lawyers around, that is not the end of Young Thug’s problems with the law. In fact, it’s not even the most serious problem.

Last April, rapper Lil Wayne was the victim of a supposed attempted murder plot — his tour bus was shot multiple times. Luckily, Lil Wayne was not hit during the shooting, and nobody was injured. While originally not indicated, both Birdman and Young Thug have now been listed in the indictment as possible suspects in the alleged attempted murder plot. While Young Thug denies involvement, his allegiance to Birdman has caused speculation as to his involvement. There has been repeated bad blood between Lil Wayne and Birdman since Lil Wayne split from Birdman’s label. Although Young Thug claimed to be a major fan of Lil Wayne’s, he sided with Birdman in the split, and major shade was tossed between Lil Wayne and Young Thug via Instagram. Interestingly, just days before the indictment, Lil Wayne had stated that he had no ill feelings for Young Thug, in an interview posted on YouTube.

It’s unknown whether he will receive jail time for any of the offenses, but it will be interesting to see how his legal battles unfold.
