Chris Brown Barely Escapes Philippines After Being Accused Of Fraud, Delay Puts Hong Kong Concert In Jeopardy

Chris Brown was barely able to escape the Philippines after being accused of fraud, and now the delay may cost fans in Hong Kong dearly.

The singer was delayed from leaving Manila on Wednesday after fraud allegations surfaced related to a concert he canceled last year on New Year’s Eve. Brown called off the concert for the 55,000-seat Philippine Arena the day before, saying he had lost his passport.

“It’s a misunderstanding between Phil Casey and the promoters. Hopefully this will be resolved shortly.” Chris’ rep also confirmed to HollywoodLife that the situation “was a misunderstanding that has since been cleared up. Chris leaves tomorrow for Hong Kong to continue his planned performances.”

The group that organized the concert petitioned the country’s Department of Justice to prosecute Brown, which held the singer up from leaving on his private plane on Wednesday.

Though it took several hours to sort out, officials said Chris Brown was not being held indefinitely.

“If the concerned agency raises no objection to the departure, then we will allow the subject to leave,” Bureau of Immigration spokeswoman Elaine Tan told the Associated Press.

Brown then raced to a planned concert for Hong Kong.

The following is from TMZ.

“But in true Chris fashion, he’s got another problem now — getting to his next show. His Hong Kong gig is supposed to be going off NOW, but we’re told Chris is still in the air.

He’s still got a shot at making it, if the fans stick around. Stay tuned…”

It has been a bad few days for Chris Brown, who recently had his California mansion robbed and his aunt held at gunpoint.

Brown’s aunt told police that the men were looking for $50,000 in cash Brown had just received for a club appearance, leading law enforcement to think it was a club promoter or someone close to one.

But the attention has now shifted, XXL reported.

“Now, according to TMZ, the focus has shifted. Law enforcement sources told the outlet that the LAPD has dispatched its gang unit to the case, believing that it was Bloods members close to Brown who were the perpetrators. Sources from the singer’s camp say he has already excised dozens of members from his vast entourage.

It was not immediately clear whether Chris Brown will face fraud charges in the Philippines regarding his canceled New Year’s Eve concert.
