WWE News: The Shield Reuniting At WWE ‘SummerSlam’ As Babyfaces?

One of the hottest factions in the WWE debuted at the 2012 Survivor Series pay-per-view. While involved in a feud with CM Punk, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins finally made it to the WWE’s main roster after spending a lot of time in WWE’s developmental territory. Back then, NXT wasn’t what it is today.

Since 2012, the Shield members have won a United States championship, WWE Tag-Team championship, a WWE World Heavyweight championship, a Money in the Bank briefcase, and a Royal Rumble match. All three WWE stars can co-exist with Evolution and the Four Horseman.

The scary thing for WWE fans is that their careers are just getting started. Ever since Seth Rollins broke up the group, WWE fans have clamored for their reunion. Soon, they might get their wish. According to Wrestling News Source and Dave Meltzer, the Shield could reunite as early as SummerSlam.

“It’s being reported by Dave Meltzer and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials have indeed been talking about reuniting The Shield at some point, possibly at the SummerSlam PPV.

“Meltzer noted that he expects the former Shield members to be working as babyfaces at SummerSlam.”

There was a brief moment at the Payback pay-per-view when the former-Shield members triple-powerbombed Randy Orton onto the announcers table. Now, while Rollins thought Ambrose and Reigns wanted to get back together, the WWE creative team swerved the entire WWE Universe simultaneously.

By simply looking at the recent reports and booking, a Shield reunion makes sense. First, Seth Rollins is still rumored to feud with Triple H at some point soon. If Triple H keeps the Authority together, then he’d have to wrestle as the heel in that program. It wouldn’t make sense to turn the entire Authority face and then keep Rollins a heel.

Until that happens, it’s all simple chatter at this point. Months ago, a rumored heel turn for Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns never happened. As for Reigns, he’s intertwined with Bray Wyatt. Ambrose on the other hand, doesn’t even have a match at WWE Battleground.

If WWE officials have an issue booking Ambrose, then a Shield reunion is the best way possible. Even if the WWE wanted them to return as a heel stable, the WWE Universe wouldn’t let that happen. All three superstars are too beloved by the fans. Since most of them want the Shield to return anyway, perhaps SummerSlam is going to be one of the best pay-per-views in years.
