Donald Gould: Homeless Veteran Wows Crowd With Piano Playing [Video]

Donald Gould might be homeless, but he is incredibly talented. According to KTLA, Gould played a public piano on the streets of Sarasota, Florida, and completely wowed passersby with his music skills. The piano was placed on the sidewalk as part of a civic arts project, but when Gould played “Come Sail Away” by Styx, people found themselves in complete awe. A video of Gould playing the piano has gone viral after circulating on social media over the past week.

“It’s overwhelming to me. I can’t believe it. I’m still fighting off tears. It’s unbelievable. I never thought it would come to this,” Gould said.

Donald Gould is a former Marine. He learned to play the clarinet when he was younger, and always wanted to be a music teacher. He struggled with money for many years, and when he lost his wife in 1998, things really went downhill for him. He developed a drug addiction, and ended up losing his son to social services, according to the report.

Those who know Gould are hoping that this bit of internet fame will give him a fresh start, according to USA Today. For now, Gould places his baseball cap on top of the piano, hoping for tips whenever he plays his five song set list.

Interestingly enough, another homeless man made headlines last week. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the unidentified man from Canada found $2,000, and decided to report it. Money was raised for him after people respected his good deed, but he decided to donate that money to charity, keeping none for himself. Check out that story here.
