As a high-street fashion icon, Kate Middleton knows all about the importance of looking good in skinny jeans. The duchess likes nothing more than to strut amongst her subjects in a pair of tight fitting denim, but could Kate’s love of skinny jeans cause the royal fashionista severe health problems?

Apparently so, Kate Middleton’s trademark “Duchess of Denim” image may not be as carefree and healthy as it looks, and her favoured tighter-than-tight jeans could cause Kate not just problems in the ball gown and silk glove wearing twilight of her golden years, but could also immediately impact on the young mum’s health on a day to day basis.

Doctors worldwide have slammed the sort of skinny jeans that Kate and millions of Middleton loving Brits rock on a daily basis after a woman collapsed and could not walk unaided for four days as a consequence of wearing devilish denim.

The Mirror reports that the constricting denim favoured by “cowgirl Kate” and other dedicated followers of fashion can cut off the blood supply in your legs and cause severe nerve damage .

According to People, a 35-year-old Australian woman was rushed to hospital after she fell in her skinny jeans and lay stranded on the ground for hours, unable to move , like a fashion conscious beached whale.

The woman who had been wearing Kate Middleton style denim was reportedly helping a family member move house, when her repeated squatting caused her muscles to swell and her feet to go numb before she eventually collapsed.

Upon reaching hospital the woman’s legs were so swollen and her ankles so weak, that the jeans head to be cut off. Doctors discovered she had damaged muscle and nerve fibers in her legs as a result of prolonged compression. After being diagnosed with “compartment syndrome” and being treated with intravenous hydration the woman made a full recovery after four days.

Dr. Perry Shieh, associate professor of neurology and director of the Neuromuscular Program at the University of California, Los Angeles, warned about the dangers of Kate Middleton, Harry Styles , and other trendsetters wearing skinny jeans on a regular basis.

“It’s not going to happen to everyone. It depends on how tight [the jeans] are. If they’re really tight then I would be concerned. I would probably wear looser jeans.”

Writing in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry Prof Thomas Kimber said, “The case represents a new neurological complication of wearing tight jeans.”

Maybe it’s time for Kate Middleton to hang up the duchess of denim image and look to Queen Elizabeth’s wardrobe for a little inspiration. You can bet your bottom dollar, there’ll be no skinny jeans to be found there.
